so been burning some AVI/FLV files with Nero 6 to DVD.

I burn with 6x speed with no menues, Nero's operation goes smooth and plays in DVD player until the last 20 min of the movie and then it just gets stuck. sometimes says scratched disc.

What could be the problem? help? should I just start using a new burning software?

What kind of blank media are you using?

Playback problems can often be attributed to cheapy media.

For best results, use Taiyo Yuden or Verbatim.

Using good media is very important and stops many problems like this one. Here is a guide for you:
    http://www.digitalfaq.com/media/dvdmedia.htm
this guide shows you what's out there and what's really good. It is an indication of what's quality and what's not.... but some of it's ratings are not accurate...... TDK is the exception and is NOT first rate media.... it's second rate at best!!! Stick to Taiyo Yuden and Verbatim! You won't have problems with those disks. But stay away from any MADE IN INDIA disks. It's important to read the labels on the box or spindle and buy MADE IN JAPAN disk.... they are the best. With Verbatim, use the ones Made in Taiwan/Singapore.... those are top notch disks, too.

there could be another reason why your player freezes at the last 20 mins. of the disk. If you burned too close to the outer edge of the disk ... this could happen. Usually when a disk freezes or pixelates or skips it's because of the media used. But if you are using good media this won't happen. Usually a disk that is burned too close to the outer edge won't even be read by a player! Sometimes it will play but has trouble at the end of the disk so it freezes and says either unreadable or dirty disk.

Play that backup on your Pc,and use the drive that made it. See how it gets through the last 20 mins. That'll help narrow down if it's drive issue(Stand alone player) or a disc issue.

interesting well Im using Memorex brand. They look cheap and were probably bought because of the price so you guys are probably right.

I was looking at that website and I found some Verbatim DVD's. Are these good? should I buy these ones?

Run the problematic burn through Nero CD-DVD Speed and do a Transfer Rate test.

You want it to look like this.

Memorex: Depends what memorex discs you got. They, like most brand names, outsource their media to many different manufacturers. Some of these manufactures are good, decent, and poor. They did it on their older 4x and 8x. Now after a year, their using lower quality manufacturers again. I found this out having ran quite a few batches of memorex that were Ricohs for over a year, and last batch turned out to be MBI's-all +16x speed.

Run that problematic disc through Nero Infotool and find the Manufacturer's ID #-,it's known as the " MID code". Also scan it like MysticE posted. Make sure your burner plays it ok or if it also screws up at the last 20 mins.

The +16x Verbatims are very good. MCC-004 = Mitsubishi Chemical Corp.A very good manufacturer.

yikes this is what i got
    [IMG]

and where does it say the MID in Nero info-tool? ran that but couldn't find it.
and yea i put in the bad disc into the burner as well and it still got stuck near the end.

Weird thing is when I convert them to VOB files and then burn with Decrypter they seem to work.

Click on that Disc quality tab and that'll show the MID code. It's also the main test that I use for PIE/PIF/and PO errors.

It could just mean it doesn't like the RitekF1's which is not unusual with older burners (and new ones too). They can be very problematic. There is no reason to do anymore tests, try some other media.
