Any idea why my DVD+R will play on my laptop but not my DVD player? I purchased a burned DVD from e-bay that will only play on my computer. I've used the same brand on DVD+R on my DVD player before with no problem so that can't be the problem. Any ideas?

it might help if you told us the model of your dvd player and or the type of discs you are using as dvd+R is just a bit to general.

I have a Sony player and the model number is DVP C650D. The two types of DVD's I am trying to play are a Sony DVD+R (DPR47) & a Ridata.

I use to have that problem. Burned DVD's having video skip, pixelation, audio sync problems. First thought it was my backup software, tried several same results. Then thought it was my cheap media I was using, tried Ridata (liked, and continue to use), it wasn't. Turned out to be my relative expensive DVD player (two years old) that was the culprit. I purchased a 40 dollar cyberhome and all my "bad" backups, as well as all of my newer ones play just fine now.

I decided to keep two spare cyberhomes brand new in boxes (darn cheap) in case the one I am using bites the dust. Had it almost a year now, and still plays just fine, as well as all of my backups.

Run that purchased DVD through DVDidentifier and find out what it is.

You can get this program free at the software page under DVD Tools.

Thanks everyone that replied. I went out and bought the DVD kit for my X-Box and it plays there. I guess my 6 year old DVD player wouldn't read the DVD but my X-Box does.
