    Hello,

I am new to this forum and not sure if this question belongs here but here it goes.

So I am having problem burning some movies. The main problem is that I when i play my burned dvds on my dvd player, many times movies freeze for a second and then it automatically skips the whole chapter and start playing the next chapter.

Now, I was using Verbatim DVD-R 16x single layer and I used ConvertXtoDVD to convert my flv videos and burn them. I used 50 of these verbatim and didn't have a single problem. Recently, I purchased TDK DVD-R 16x single layer (100 pack) because they were on sale and I started noticing the problem I have on top. I usually burned my verbatim on 4x burn speed and did the same thing with TDK but TDK was giving me problems so I tried 2.4x and 2x speeds but still the same problem AND with 2x and 2.4x I been noticing a problem where audio and video don't overlap (where video is few seconds ahead of the audio so I would see mouth move but I would hear words few seconds later).

After reading a bit around on this forum people said that 4x burning speed is right for verbatim dvds but i couldnt find anything on TDK dvds. So please help me out. Its annoying when I spend few hours converting and burning movies just to find out they would skip chapters.

At this point, I am guessing I just got a bad lemon, so is there any software that can read my blank dvds in advance and tell me if they are any good?

Let me know if you need more information about my laptop.
    thank you

Generally, the Verbatim disks are consistently good.
If you can burn without problems at 4x, try burning at half the maximum on the package too.

Scroll down the link for the media code shown for TDK.
Each code is a different manufacturer - some are good, TY and MCC (MCC is a Verbatim code).
Some are variable in quality (Ritek, CMC Mag).
You can't see the media code until you put the disk in the burner - so it's a coin toss as to what you are getting - unless you use a known, good, disk.

I am not big into computers and dvds so what I am suppose to do with these codes? Are they for my reference to see which code my dvd shows?

If you want to know which disks are consistently good quality, it's Taiyo-Yuden or Verbatim.
