help!! i'm new to this. i've been succesfully backing up/playing dvd's but i've hit a snag. my burner cant read king kong or curse of the were rabbit. both disks are originals. my pc says there is no disk in the drive after it whirs around for a few minutes! any help would be very appreciated. thanks (my drive is an external sony dvd rw dw-g121a)
it sure sounds like the movie disk is erring out.. that HYS3 firmware is the latest for ye burner what program and ripper are you using.to try to do that movie..
did you try a reboot..... and see if the drive recognizes the disks? Or I would uninstall the drive and then reinstall the drive and see if it's working properly. Has your drive reverted back to PIO mode instead of DMA? if so read this: http://winhlp.com/WxDMA.htm try cleaning the disks and see if that helps. Check for fingerprints, scratchs, lint.... after cleaning try again.
hi all. there's no driver included as xp automatically recognises drive. using dvdfab dydcrypter and dvd shrink, however i cant get to the point where the burner reads any data! if i'm in windows media player even that wont recognise the disk! tried the pio/dma thing as suggested but still no difference. crazy eh !!
try those programs free for 21 days on that movie, and report back thanks AnyDVD works in the background to automatically remove the copy protection of a DVD movie as soon as it's inserted into the drive, allowing you then to backup the movie using a DVD backup tool such as CloneDVD and CloneDVD mobile. You can also remove the RPC region code, thereby making the movie region free and viewable on any DVD player and with any DVD player software. AnyDVD is capable of removing unwanted movie features, including subtitles and prohibition messages such as copyright and FBI warnings. It also allows you to launch an external application whenever you insert or remove a disc, or prevent 'PC-friendly' software from automatically launching when you insert a video DVD. Decryption is not all that AnyDVD offers. You can control the drive speed of your DVD drive, allowing you to reduce the noise level when watching movies on your PC. You can even adjust the display frequency of your monitor for both NTSC and PAL displays. But AnyDVD doesn't just stop at DVDs. It also decrypts protected audio CDs to allow you to copy them. hi guys tried the programs but still no joy!! i think the problem is that my burner doesn't recognise that there is a disk in the drive so there is nothing to copy or play. all other disks are fine, this problem has only happened with kong and narnia. any other suggestions ???? ta
read this and see if this helps go here http://support.microsoft.com/kb/324129/EN-US/ The CD-R drive or CD-RW drive is not recognized as a recordable device To make sure that the CD-R drive or the CD-RW drive is recognized as a recordable drive, make sure that the Recording tab appears in the CD drive properties: 1. Click Start, and then click My Computer. 2. Right-click the CD-R drive or the CD-RW drive, click Properties, and then look for the Recording tab. If the CD-R drive or the CD-RW drive is not recognized as a recording drive by Windows XP, but the drive is recognized only as a CD-ROM, confirm that the CD-R drive or the CD-RW drive is compatible with Windows XP. (For example, confirm that the drive is compatible with Windows XP if the Recording tab does not appear.) To do this, see the Microsoft Hardware Compatibility List (HCL). For more information about the HCL, see the "Hardware Device and Device Driver Compatibility" section. If the drive is not compatible, you may still be able to record discs in Windows XP if you use a compatible third-party program or if you update the drivers. Contact the hardware manufacturer for a firmware or a device driver update. For more information, see the "Hardware Device and Device Driver Compatibility" section in this article. If the CD-R drive or the CD-RW drive is compatible, follow the procedure that is described in the following Microsoft Knowledge Base article: more info here http://www.annoyances.org/exec/forum/winxp/1072306099
Have you tried other DVDs in the drive? If it isn't recognizing DVDs you've read before you may need to replace it
