Now I have been having this problem for a long time and just got fed up and hated burning things after that. Had windows re-installed quite a while back but it didn't fix the problem so I left it. Now I need to start using my burner to back up dvd's so i'm hoping people could tell me if they had similiar experiences. Okay so this is the problem, alot of the time when i'm burning something, it will just stop recording (the burner light goes off) but the application will still run and the timer will continue but the progess bar won't move. The computer doesn't lock up or anything, I can still use the computer normally. The only way I can record few discs is if I restart the computer and don't do anything at all and just straight away start recording, only then can I get a successfull burn. BUT this only works for a 2-3 discs and then does the same problem or if I start doing things like say connect to the internet and surf then i'll get that problem as well. My current burner is a NEC ND-2500A, its not my burner because I had the same problem with my previous burner Pioneer DVR-105. I've had this problem for like well over a year (maybe nearing 2 years) and I thought i'd see if any else has this. Also I have a nForce2 motherboard and Windows XP Pro SP2. I've heard someone say nvIDE drivers may cause problems but there was a time everything worked sweet even with them (I think anyway...had this for so long). Also not bad media problems either. But I'm willing to try different things and unstill the nvIDE drivers but first I thought i'd see if others had similiar problem and what they did. Thanks guys, hope to end this misery and go back to the days where I enjoyed dvd burning.
You might need to update your burner firmware to the latest version. You can get it here: http://forum.rpc1.org/dl_result.php?kaj=1&isces Here is another link that will shed some light on that particular drive: http://club.cdfreaks.com/forumdisplay.php?f=86 Hopefully this will help. Cheers.
