Im geting ready to buy some TY blank media. I have Samsung that is capable of writing at 16X. But I read that u can get better quality if u write at a slower speed like 2x. Is this true? What sped media should i buy , (4x, 8x, 16X)?
The best quality media are the 16x Verbatums or Taiya Yudens. If you are burning movies, use high quality media (there are other brands such as Ritek that will work fine) and burn at 4 or 8x (I burn at 8x and I have a 16x burner). You will have a quality burn almost everytime.
i want to make sure i can burn at 4x or 8x on the TY 16x media? Do i get better quality with 16 x media or 4x media if i burn a 4x. I mean if my burn speed is under 4x will the image quality be better if use a 16x capable or 8x capable media?
I burn at 4x to 6x because there are less chance of errors. If you have a newer burner even 8x would probably be okay as long as it is on good media.
I found it highly depends on the media you are using. Most of the time I use relatively cheap media (Arita & Platinum both with RICOH mediacode) and if the media is certified 8x I will burn at 4x (16x at 8x etc.)just to be on the safe side. This way I get about 99% succesful burns. Especially with the Arita 8x there could be problems when burning at 8x... It also helps to have a decent DVD-burner. I always go for Plextor.
I use all Verbat Azo 8x or 16x. Burn at 8x and haven't had a coaster yet. Still a newbie at this, but have followed everyones instrctions and have had great luck. All DVD's have burned great and look great.
yeah, i've only just weaned myself off 4x, back to 8x on 8x media. however when i go 16x media i will most definitely only stick to 8x
It is much better to use 16x and burn at 4 or 8x than using 4 or 8x media and burning at 4x. The 16x is rated to burn at 16x, so it is a much higher quality media than an 8x. Burn at 12 or 16x when burning data and MP3s.
