hi, i wanted to back up my dvd and i copied it tot he hard disc a long time ago. now i cant find the disc...I want to burnt he files from the hard drive to the dvd-r. i tried using nero and it says the file is too big...:0( Is there any other programme i can use to burn the files to the dvd r. alos i was wondering how can i split the files into to 2 discs?
size:5.77 GB and i dont know what type of file it is, it just says video file. sorry but i hope this helps...
I guess I can figure out your problem: You have made an image of the DVD and now have got one big single file xy.nrg (if done with nero) or xy.iso (if done with Decrypter, RIP). Or you copied the files and folders to the harddisk and now have a bunch of files in one VIDEO_TS-folder. If the original DVD was a DVD-9 (which means it is a double-layer-disk with a max capacity of 8.5 GB) and you are trying to burn it on a DVD-5 (Single-layer, capacity is 4.7 GB), it won´t fit. If your burner is able to handle "DVD-R DL" media, try one of those. But they are still very expensive (at least here in germany, where I live). What you have to do to get the content burned on your DVD-5 is to shrink it. There´s a fabulous free tool called DVD-Shrink (look for it in the download area on afterdawn), which allows to compress the whole DVD to fit on a DVD-5. It´s easy to use: In the left top corner you can choose "Open Disc" or "Open Files". If you have the files you click on that and point to the VIDEO_TS-folder. If you have got an Image File, you need to mount it as a virtual disk. Software like the Daemon (for free, you get it here: http://www.daemon-tools.cc/dtcc/portal/download.php?mode=ViewCategory&catid=5 ) will do. After Installing it, you will find that more drive letters are shown in your windows-explorer and a new icon in the taskbar. Click on this icon and choose a drive letter of one virtual Drive (you can have up to four, whatever it may be good for) and then point to the Image File of your DVD. Back to DVD-Shrink: When you have mounted the Image as a drive, you choose "Open Disc" and then point to the virtual DVD-Drive. If you got that far and still have probs, come again here and ask.
