    Hey everyone

My dvd drive doesn not reconize alot of the dvd media i buy for it. I had this problem before and flashed it out but since then i had to reformat my computer and thus lost the update.

I am now having a hard time finding the firmware/flash upgrade i need for it (i remember there was a trick to it)

My Burner is a LITE ON SOHW 1653S

    Thanks

    -Josh

    Hi thejayinj
When you flash your drive with the latest firmware it stays in the drive itself. The reformat wouldn't affect this.
Here's a link for the latest firmware version - the latest stock one is CSOT:

The trick may be your crossflashed this to another model?

What media is giving you a problem?

hey thanks for the quick response.

Its pretty much all media, seems the newer stuff (sony, hp, maxell) either wont be reconized or will skip alot when playing in a dvd player or not play at all. I will click this and install and let you know how it turns out

    Thanks

    "no matched drive detected
Utility only for LITE ON SOHW 1653S

    Detected drives:

Ok is this an oem drive that came with the pc?
What is your current firmware version? I'm still thinking you have the latest one even though you reformatted.
Window updates up to date since reformat?
You can find the firmware version in device manager. Right on your drive>properties. Here's a pick to illustrate - current version in this is 1.02
