I have been told there is a way to burn .avi files directly to a DVD without converting to MPEG. I know you will be able to only get about 30 min out of a disc, but there is no quailty loss. can someone help me with this process using the Nero8 ulta edition?

Use data dvd or data cd option in SmartStart.
Depends on the size if you need a dvd or cd. Over 700 mb use the dvd option.

    Hmmm...Just out of curiosity NS59,
Do you have a player that supports AVI(Divx, Xvid..) playback, or just a ordinary player?

Just trying to get domething to play on my standard DVD player that doesn't look like the standard MPEG2 junk. I'm note worried about how many min per disc a get, just quality.

Well, if you have a standard DVD player, you have to convert the AVI files. There is no way around it(of course, you colud buy a DVD player that supports AVI playback;you can buy something decent for around $40). For conversion, try DVD Flick, set it to "High Quality"/2 pass . The results are very good( given that you have a good quality avi.
