I tried searching for this answer and didn't find it... Most of the time I back up using Nero Recode 2 and AnyDVD, I find it to be the best overall combination. In fact, if anyone would like, I'd be happy to throw together a guide for using these two programs together to get GREAT results. However, recently my roomate did a backup and simply decoded/stripped the dvd to a folder on the HDD, obviously called video_ts. I tried to use nero burning rom to burn it as a video DVD, however upon beginning the burn I get an error "video file reallocation failed", and the dvd might not be readable when it's done. I'm poor, and I don't want to burn coasters, so I quit at this point. So then I tried using recode 2 and importing the files...not a choice. So then I tried nerovision express, and I get the files all in order and all that jazz, it previews fine, but it still transcodes everything and after 55 mins had not yet begun to burn. The movie plays fine w/ the nero media player. My question is, if I just copy the video_ts folder, same name and all, via a basic dvd burn in nero, will it work? Or...what is my best option? Why not use nero express to burn, click and drag your HD file(entire folder) to VIDEO_TS and burn from there. Leave AUDIO_TS alone. Should work. Don't know why u would use nve2, as it is for file conversion and menu creating. Love nero ultra 6! That's what was giving me the error mate, dragging the video_ts folder....but it's also what I was asking. I went ahead and burned the movie w/ the error in NBR, and it turned out fine, not sure about the error. Basically my real question is like this, it's sorta technical: I'm not really familiar w/ the file format/structure of DVD's. I assume it's basic and dumb so that DVD players can be made as cheaply and universally as possible. I'm speaking mostly of direct linking (like, for example, in the video_ts folder, do the vob's somehow dynamically link to other vobs besides their chapter cuts/audio splice/jump to next vob). That is--is it *necessary* for me to use the "video dvd" feature of nero to actually get a dvd *video*, or would burning a "data" disc of the exact same files in the same order in a folder called "video_ts" net me the same result. That make sense? From your response I can guess that it's pretty generic as long as the folder name/file types are correct. Please let me know if I'm wrong. BTW, I was bouncing around btw programs to see what would work the best for me w/o errors. Much is learned through trial and error (for me at least), and many great discoveries were the result of accidents...not that I can claim any of those *myself.* Thanks for the speedy response tho... ~me
