when i was still using my pioneer 111D with image burn i just used some other 'brand' to set it to dvd-rom since pioneer wasnt an option in the booktype settings. you can try this if you want as it worked for me, but i dont want you to potentially waste another disc though, so you might want to wait and see if anyone else replies to your thread.

off the top of my head, the only thing i can suggest is to play around with the choices available and see if any of them work. perhaps, see if there is a firmware update for your burner.

Like wabashman said you may need a firmware update. Just need the make and model to see if one is available.
Emprex is no longer around but there are still sites to check the firmware. I don't think this drive supports booktyping either but can check w/ the model #.

Do you have the rest of the log you can post? That will give the make and model of the emprex drive along with the firmware, media and burn speed used.

If not post that stuff back. To find the make and model double click on my computer, right click on one of the drives listed and go to properties then hardware - the make & model will be listed there next to DVD/CD Rom Drives.

Ok - as far as I can tell the drive does not support booktyping.

If it did though you would pick the appropriate tab for the drive then for dual layer (+R only) you would pick DVD +R DL instead of DVD +RW.

What media are you using? This is an older drive so I would only use Verbatim dual layer rated no more then 4x. No guarantee that will work but you might have a better chance with it.

lol - I'm curious too on asda :)

Good point Loonatic on saving the $ and getting a new burner. Heck a good one can be cheaper then say a pack of 25 dual layer dvds.

Yeah but I buy the printable ones and they're like 2.65 each so I can't afford too many coasters :)

But either way it will still cost effective for dave_a to pick up a new burner from newegg or equivalent of wherever they are.
