Hey everyone! I've been having a problem for at least the last month. I have done extensive research on the net looking for an answer to the problem and have only found one related thread over at the Nero site. When I burn a cd and go back to play it in a regular cd player the first tracks plays fine. Then, all other tracks are on track 2. When I first put the cd in the player all the tracks pop up but then I get the problem above when I begin to play the disc. The burner I am using also burns dvds. I haven't had any problems with the dvds I have backed up. I have all the latest updates to my system, have tried different burning programs and am still having the same problem. I am truly at the end of the line and have no idea what's going on. Has anyone else ever had this issue? I would hate having to buy a new burner but it looks like I might have to. Anyhow, any thoughts on this problem would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!
Maybe your media has a bad spot. Nero I consider an inferior burner for any use. You can't regulate the speed of the burn properly. I use this freebee
Thanks for replying. I'll give that program a try and see how it goes. I recently tried using Nero 10 and it burnt the discs correctly. So it's really mysterious as to what is happening
It was the media. Bad spots will be in the same spot on each disk sometime for many disks sometimes just a few. No one has ever complained about the burn routine in the package I suggested you try in almost 10 year. Still, it might not have successfully burned them.
dunno whether you've chosen the right format before burning. As: VOB(mpeg2) is the best format for DVD burnig. Aiff is the best format for music CD burnig. just convert to the right format, and i think Nero is enouth!
VOBs are not mpeg2s. You can go to AD guides and find a guide for converting VOBs to meg2s. Aiff are Apple's version of a wave file. They needed to reinvent the wheel. I guess they felt the need for a bloated audio format. Aaminon, if Nero was enough why didn't it work???? You are clueless! The format that you use will not effect whether it will burn OK or not, that is due to the burner, the burn app and the media. Nero is a second rate burn app not a first rate or a third rate. Sonic/Roxio is a third or forth rate burning app so there are worse out there. If you use Nero you need a good burner and great media to make a good copy.
Now I am having a similar problem where all the tracks are within track 1. Tracks 2,3,4 etc simply are not there. However, playback on the pc is normal, but playback on a hifi is not. I have tried numerous 3rd party software progs (Nero, Ashampoo, Cyberlink) and the problem occurs. However, using Windows 7 inbuilt burner is okay (so far). Strange thing is I'm using a new Dell pc, and I've never had problems burning cd's on even the most tatty of computers. I, like you am at the end of the line, a most annoying inconsistant problem.
Hey Red! I'm still not quite sure what was going on to cause this problem for me. Originally I always used Nero 5 that came with my pc to burn my audio discs. It never failed. That was the program I used for about the last 6 years. I would occasionally use Nero 7 also because it had Showtime and I would just make a disc image and back up my cds that way. But all of a sudden I started having the same problems with both versions as you are having. So, I updated my system to SP 2 and SP 3, and that seemed to help. But I still took Mez advice and got MediaMonkey (great program btw)I didn't have any more problems. But, Tuesday my burner went out so that's got me thinking maybe that was most of the problem. Now I have a new burner and I am current with all updates and no problems at all. I would highly suggest making sure you have updated the computer and, as Mez suggested, try out Media Monkey. To me, Nero is way over rated. If none of that helps it could be your burner going bad (let's hope not) Please keep us updated. Thanks again Mez for the help
I do use Mediamonkey and I agree its a great program. Looks like I'm stuck using the Windows 7 burner as I seem to get the correct result from each burn. However I'm really annoyed with this because a new pc + new burner + newly installed Nero/Ashampoo(or whatever app you care to mention good bad or indifferent) should = bog standard cd burnt as it should. At first I thought it was a faulty burner, but that does not seem to be the case. I'm thinking now its a Windows 7 thing, thats somehow suppressing Nero. The reason for my thinking is that in Nero the Options button next to the burner selection dialog box is greyed out. I'm thinking wipe the Dell installed hard drive and reinstall Windows.
I don't know who is giving Nero a good rating. It is one of the better paid for apps but there are several free app that blow it away. The last time I called Nero I realized they were total morons. They were cutting edge 10+ yrs ago. Nero was burning disks too fast. I could get a reliable burn at 4x with other burn apps but the slowest speed avail to me from Nero was 12x. Of course, every burn would be bad. Nero blamed the burner for the speeds then the OS but it couldn't be Nero's fault. I was talking with the chief software engineer. I knew they were lost since they didn't even know their own code! He claimed it was impossible to pick your own speed like competent apps. Obviously, there is a reason you want to burn a 16x at only 4x. It is not because you can't read the label. If you are having an issue with MM not burning correctly you need to post it on the MM board. That is a great board and you will either learn how to fix your problem or MM will fix the bug. That is why it is a great product. You give a valid complaint and they fix it. Nero hasn't fixed the burn speed problem in 8 years! They claim it isn't their fault so they will never fix it. If MM can't burn with W7 that would be a very high priority. However, I am sure you are doing something wrong. They would have tested that. I am sure they have tens of thousands of W7 users. This is actually the first MM problem I can remember being posted on this board.
