I am looking to try and create a disc for work that would allow me to make something similar to a VCD but also let me put data files on the disc. We want to make a disc to handout at trade shows that has some video we own on it but also has digital versions of our brochures. I would like it to be something that you could play in a dvd player (hence the vcd part) but there may not be a way to do this with Nero. I am using Nero 8. Any help would be much appreciated.
You can make a DVD/data hybrid. The movie plays on the standalone DVD player, the data (like a PDF) would be displayed on the PC. http://forums.afterdawn.com/thread_view.cfm/677205
I appreciate the help and the link to the other thread. One last question though. My boss had wanted this done on cd's to save the pennies that are the price difference. So, is there a way to do it with a cd rather than a dvd?
I don't know if it would work as a VCD. I thought VCD were burned as image files (bin and cue) - although if you examine the CD it consists of a group of folders - and I don't have Nero currently installed to test.
Just use the DVD's and tell the skinflint that it's the only alternative for a hybrid disc. He/she won't understand anyway. Nobody ever got ahead in life by NOT making a decision.
Nero burns VCD's as a bunch of folder and you drag and drop your video files into it. I tried dropping some data in as well and Nero booted it out. Thanks again for your help
VCDEasy (look for the last freeware edition) will create a bin and cue file from a VCD compliant MPEG file and gives you the option of adding other content. Run the program;on the 'Main' tab add the compliant mpeg file. On the 'ISO Files' tab, add the other content, then 'Go'. A .bin and .cue file are created that can be burned to CD. The video ran on the standalone and the PDF file can be opened on the PC with Explorer. http://www.321download.com/LastFreeware/page10.html ================================================ Edited to correct final step (Go)
