I have DVD Decrypter and DVD Shrink installed on my computer. I also have some random version of Nero that was already installed when I got my computer, but I've tried using it three times and it never works. So anyway... I used DVD Decrypter (great product btw... I'll donate some cash to that guy one day, I swear to my older brother!) to get a non-encrypted copy of a DVD onto my hard drive. I used DVD Shrink (great product btw... no viruses or spyware or anything) to shrink the VIDEO_TS files down to a managable size... so now what? I keep finding all these guides to rip DVDs but I've already taken care of that. Then I find all these "how to burn a DVD" tutorials, but they all use expensive products that I don't have. One tutorial claimed that having only the demo version of some product or other was enough to burn a DVD, but my download expired mere seconds after I opened the thing. Potential Problems: I don't think my computer -- even though it's only say... two years old -- can handle DVD+R. That's prolly the reason that I get a "No disc inserted" pop up whenever I put a blank DVD+R disc in the dvd player. I don't know where to find DVD-Rs. I didn't even see any DVD-R discs on the day I bought my DVD+R discs from Best Buy. I ain't got the cash to spend on Nero's spectacular "It costs $70 bucks because it always works! ...Except for the times when it doesn't, tee hee!" software crap. Soooo help me. Please. ^_^
the nero you have already loaded on your pc should be able to update try that first(open the program and click nero in the upper left hand corner)to update it. dvd decrypter has its own burner also ,and BTW dvd decrypter was shut down so you cant donate any money to UK lighting who is the aurthor of the program .and as far as finding DVD dash Rs there everywhere i dont know what your problem is finding them try getting them online at supermedia store.com or meritline.com and remember to use good blank media as in Taiyo Yuden or Verbatim and burn at 4 X max.heres some guides to try http://home.comcast.net/~bbmayo/index.html or you can try another burning program, i would use CloneDVD 2 with anydvd ,great product and very easy to use ,heres that link its a 21 day free trial http://www.slysoft.com/en/
Thank you very much for the info! But I deleted all my Nero crap in a fit of mild rage like, three days ago, so it looks like Nero isn't an option. I found some semi helpful information about burning with DVD Decrypter so I guess I'll give it a try. Thanks again!
and you can find nero MUCH cheaper than 70 bucks ,i got the program at my local PC store for under 20 dollars ,or look on e-bay or you can download a free trial here at afterdawn in the software section
You can also find nero 6 oem suite 3 online which includes nero recode 2 for around $8. Suites 1 and 2 doesn't have recode 2 so make sure you get suite 3. BTW recode 2 is a transcoding proggy like dvd shrink and is even made by mr dvd shrink. He went to work for nero. Here's an example. http://www.softwareandstuff.com/SWW12252.html Give us the make and model of your dvdrw drive and we can verify that it will burn dvd+r's and also give us your firmware and we can check for an update. aabbccdd: Which store did you buy your software from? I wanted to buy from a local store but I couldn't find any place that sold Nero stuff. Mort81: Thanks for the link and detailed information. I'm glad that everything worked out okay for L UK!. Isn't it ironic that Nero would hire the creator of the 'terrible enemy program' DVD Decrypter? It's kind of like a weird superhero/cop partnership or somethin. But anyway, I don't know how to get to my comp info... so I'll pick up some CD-Rs today and give them a try. Thanks again.
