Hi, I have this really weird problem. I just bought a maxtor personal storage 3200 320 GB hard drive and I store my dvd movies on there. I used clonedvd2 to copy the dvds to the hard drive. When I tried to burn a tv series to dvd using clonedvd2(there are 6 discs in the tv series) I burn the discs using clone dvd2 and it works fine but....when I try to play the discs, all 6 discs play fine until the last ten minutes on each disc. The last ten minutes freeze up and dont work. I tried playing the original disc and there were no problems. Then I tried copying the disc directly (not from the hard drive) and I tried playing it and there were no problems. There are only problems watching the last ten minutes when I burn from the external hard drive to a disc. Also let me mention that I tried playing the dvd files on my external hard drive with win dvd and they played fine too with no problems. It is only when I burn from the hard drive to a disc that I have problems watching the last ten minutes which freeze up. So please can anyone help me I am desperate for any help and need it ASAP. Thanks in advance.

What DVD media brand are you using?

You also should set the output DVD size to 4300 so when you burn the DVD disc it dosent burn all the way to the edge of the DVD media.

Some DVD media might not have consitent dye towards the edge of the DVD. So you will have playback problems when you get towards the end of the movie,(close to the edge). The best way to stop this from happing is by reducing the output file so it does not burn to the edge.

You can do this in CloneDVD2 by choosing custom for the output setting and type in 4300. The output size setting is to the left of the Quality bar at the bottom of cloneDVD2.

some Memorex media can be cheap. What is the ID number of the disc? The best media to use are Taiyo Yudens or Verbatim. You can always try to use the Memorsux but custom size the output file to 4300.

That media is poor quility media. Go to the link below and there are diffrent classes of media. That brand is in class 3. 50% to 80% succsses rate.

    http://www.digitalfaq.com/media/dvdmedia.htm

Now to set the DVD output size look at the below image and it will show where to change the output size.

In your screenshot, you have a screenshot of copying the dvd, not using write existing data. So please tell me how I can do it by clicking on write existing data. I dont want to copy a dvd, I just want to write the dvd files already on my external hard drive to a dvd.

No if you want the file at that size then you have to re-encode it. Write existing data is exactly what it means, it is not gonna change it, all it does is burn what you have.

Arrniebear is right. I did not see you where using that option. If you want to bring the DVD to 4300 you will have to choose to transcode the DVD by choosing the Clone DVD botton.

I think the main issue why you are getting playback problems at the end of the disc is due to the MEDIA. If you go to the link above that I provided your media is class 3 and it has a 50% to 80% succsses rate. It also says you could have playback ptoblems at the end of the movie with freezing and skipping.

Alright problem IS NOT FIXED. I JUST BOUGHT VERBATIM DVD+R MEDIA and tried burning some discs and the same problem is happening. The very last episode on the disc is freezing up and I cant watch it. So it is obviously not the media because this is top of the line. Let me just point out that I am using a dell laptop with an NEC ND-6500A DVD burner with 203D firmware. Something is obviously wrong because when I used my memorex media on my desktop DVD burner, an NEC ND-2100 AD with firmware 103D all the media burned successfuly and the very last episode and/or the last minutes of the dvd do not freeze up when I burned with the ND-2100 AD. The dvds work perfectly with no problems what so ever when I burn on my desktop, however when using the laptop burner, the ND-6500A, that is when the last episode on the dvd is unwatchable and/or freezes. So can someone please help me ASAP because I have wasted numerous dvds already and dont want to waste any more!!!
