Any help would be greatly appreciated. I am new and can't figure out how to burn a mpeg file utilizing Nero 7 to play on a DVD player? Not sure but I think it's something to do with the format and not sure where in Nero I need to get this fixed so it plays in the regular dvd player.

DVDs are mpeg2 files but they have to be in DVD compliant form. If you just have the one file, you'll need to use Nerovision to make it DVD compliant.

If you have a folder of files with extensions like .ifo, .bup. and .vob then you just have to use Nero Burning ROM or Nero Express to burn them to DVD. Just select DVD-Video as the project type, navigate to the folder containing the files, add them to the project, set the burn speed and volume name, and burn.

Can you please elaborate in details on how nerovision works? Right now when I load Nero there are many options and one is Make your own DVD-Video. That brings me to NeroVision. I click on add a video file and for some odd reason the mpg file I select gets a message that unable to insert. Any clue why?

Do you have the full version of Nero or just Essentials? It may be that you're lacking the mpeg2 plugin. It could also be due to an error in the mpeg file.
