First of all, thanks to this forum and all that have contributed. It's been a huge help.

I have a question though in regards to burning a DVD with Nero Vision, and then with Nero Burning ROM. When I add a .avi file into Vision, (i.e. it shows on the capacity bar that I will need 6.75 GB on my media to succeessfully burn the file) So if I have selected high quality because I am using a dual layer DVD, why does the file end up being less than than the 6.75 GB? The file is generally smaller than what it Nero originally specified it will be.

Another example is I have 3 .avi files all of th same size, about 695 MB each. If I want to burn 2 of them, Nero shows me the project will take 4.8 GB. When I add the third file, it doubles the amount of space it says I need and will not fit on a dual layer DVD? Why would 2 695mb files take 4.8gb and 3 if you add one more it jumps to 9GB?

And to add to that if I burn the three files even though it says its over and I told it NOT to fit to disc, the finish VIDEO_TS file is less than the 8.5 GB capacity on the disc, but I will get e mesage saying there may be an error and it may not play, and it will not play in my play on my stand alone.

If I burn just the two files the DVD burns and plays fine.

In a nutshell, why does Nero give such differing numbers when converting .avi files to a VIDEO_TS folder with VOB files?

Hope that makes sense. Any help is appreciated. Thanks

i think it estimates bitrate, you can change bitrate/size

i use convertxtodvd for 3x avi 700meg to dvd-r, quailty is very good, also done 7 350meg avi to dvd-r, all good

Thanks. I tried using convert x last night. Ont the settings I selected no menu, yet it still inserted a menu. When I played the DVD back on my 4:3 screen, it did not fit. the sides were cut off pretty bad. How do I correct these settings?

    My version is 2.99.13.900

I used the auto setting for TV format.
