    Hi,

I am trying to burn a video that I made on a dvd with my sony handycam DCR-DVD105. When I try to burn it in Window Movie Maker I get this error: The file E:\VIDEO_TS\VTS_01_2.VOB is not a supported file type, and it cannot be imported into Windows Movie Maker.

Will someone PLEASE help me? And/or tell me a way to burn the dvd's.

It appears that the file type is VOB that my sony handycam produces. I can watch it on my computer with windows media player but am unable to burn it through movie maker. I also tried converting it through W Media Encoder, but it doesn't work with VOB files.

On my dvd-r disk that was made with my sony handycam, it has several movies on one disk. I want to be able to burn one movie onto another dvd-r disk. This movie is a VOB file. Hope this makes more sense.

just 1 single vob? ok thx

load it into convertxtodvd (pay for app) or dvd flick (free app) the beta dvd flick has a menu function for say a few of your single vobs...

how big are your single vob file?

    ----------------

you may be able to rename your .vob to .mpg ? and other software may load it? not to sure but have read on this...

just read renameing .vob to .mpg will work in movie maker!

My sony handycam records the movie, pictures etc directly on the dvd-r or dvd disk that we put in the cam.

it will, your not useing the drop down box to select all files!

copy paste file to hard drive (dont pull from dvdr! ! !)
    ------------------

then when on hard drive you could try renameing myholiday.VOB to myholiday.MPG and it may load to movie maker?!?

Nope: When I try to "add title" when in dvd flick, I have file types as "all supported type" and I can not see the vob file on my disk (in handycam). How do you rename with mpg?

when I do the drop down to accept all files, I can find my video/movie on the handycam. When I click okay this error message come up: E:\VIDEO_TS\VTS_01_2.VOB could not be opened. The file may be corrupted or it's format may be unsupported.

It just about 11:30 and I need to get to bed. I have to be up in 6 hours. I need my beauty sleep, at 40 we all do.
