I am using Nero to burn my dvds. When I copy a dvd, it only takes about 5 minutes to make a backup of one of my dvd movies onto a 4GB blank dvd. Yet, when I use Nero to turn a bunch of AVI into a dvd (not just a data dvd but a movie dvd), it takes about 2 hours to burn that 4GB DVD. Can somebody explain to me why this is? Is there a way i can get this done alot faster?
Hi pcinfoman Vision takes longer cause it has to transcode/convert the avi files into a dvd compliant format. So the transcoding peice takes the longest. Once done the burning peice takes the same the time are your regular dvd backups. 2 hours may be right based on your pc specs. Make sure your not multi tasking and shut down any unncessary processes - may help you speed.
You can try convertxtodvd. http://www.afterdawn.com/software/video_software/video_encoders/vso_divxtodvd.cfm Never used it myself but other members here like it & say it's faster - doesn't do the menus like Nero (I think). You can try the free trial - will leave a watermark - but you can at least test it out.
