I'm a rookie with a mac and with its software. Can someone please explain to me the best way to get a DVD burner for my mac? Ive used imgburn on my PC before and that worked really well. But I think I need a converter like VMWare or something to be able to use imgburn. Can someone help me?
you can use vmware fusion to run windows in a vm on a mac. I'm not sure of free good alterntives for max that are as good as imgburn. A burning program you could get is Toast.
Toast is a great and strong program. It costs about $80+. Your question is very basic, what kind of burning are you looking to do?
All the major software archives have free tools of all kinds to rip and burn DVDs, SVCDs, VCD, CDs, audio CDs, &c. MacOSX is a variety of Unix, and these were FreeBSD tools that were easily ported to Macs. My preference is to create folders on my desktop that contain all the tools I need. Here's mine, which doesn't use Toast or anything but free software: http://forums.afterdawn.com/thread_jump.cfm/574771/3721509 You can still find older copies of MactheRipper on most archives other than versiontracker.com. (I had a list of about a dozen reliable ones, but my Mac isn't with me.) This popular thread was made before dual- or double-layer drives, and it uses Toast: http://forums.afterdawn.com/thread_jump.cfm/125996/654348 It was least expensive for me to buy Verbatim (lightscribe) or Taiyo Yuden discs when on sale. I subscribed weekly to an internet store's newsletter: when the price seemed low, I checked the others. If you run a Microsoft emulator on you Mac, you will be subject to all the malware Windows is.
