I have done some reading on numerous sites and every post seems to have a different piece of software recomended but they all have the one thing in common.... this should be simple! I have spent several weeks and blown up ATLEAST 20 DVD's trying to get this figured out. I have used several programs including Nero and all have failed. All I'm trying to do is take a movie file and burn to dvd for use in my DVD player at home. I have taken the file, converted it and taken the "video" output file and loaded it into Nero, then burned to both DVD-R and DVD+R with close to zero success. The closest I had was about 15 mins of video before it pixeled and froze. I have tried AVS, burn4free, windows movie maker, nero etc etc and nothing is working for me. the file will work on my cpu no problem, the converted file will work on my cpu no problem but the burned version wont work properly on any player I have tried. I've even tried files that are already converted. I have d/l'd all the codec's I can find but still no joy. any help would be GREATLY appreciated (I'm running windows XP pro by the way).

    hi :)

i'll assume its an avi (no matter) run it through ConvertXtoDVD or DvdFlick then seeing as you have Nero, burn it through Nero Recode

A failed nero burn log may help

if the file is already in the video_ts standard why are you using Nero to re encode it?You log shows two separate logs, first log is Nero Recode, second log is the burn.Have you tried a different brand of disk.

New at this so missed that part, thanx. I have 8 files in a folder labled Video_TS. the files are (2) Video_TS files (Backup file of the IFO and DVD Movie info) (2) VTS_01_0 (backup file of the IFO and DVD Movie Info) and (4)VTS_01_1 (DVD Movie) files of aprox 1,000,000 kb each. Tried to do a burn in Nero and it does not recognize the files in the folder.... tells me the format must be wrong or I'm doing some thing wrong with Nero?

Read this guide, burn the folder with imageburn if you look in the guides section on this site there is a guide for using Nero.I would use imageburn up to you.Have you tried any different disk's?.If not at least get yourself some DVD-RW save wasting your disk's.

Thanx for the RW idea, it may be in order as I'm nor making any progress (2 more down in the last 24 hrs). I read the gudie ages back which is how I came accross this site but again thanx for the sugestion. Is there any chance this could be some sort of error or difficency in my burner? it burns the disk so I would think they should be fine but I thought I would ask. I have looked at a disk a friend burned for me and it has exactly the dame file structure, same type of disk etc etc andit works fine on my set top player where the ones I;m burning are not. BRUTAL.... at my wits end with this.

Ask your friend what brand of disk he uses and buy some. :)Lots of folk recommend verbatim, rule of thumb if you buy cheap Billy no name disk's expect poor results.I would try some good quality disk's before you start wasting money on a new dvd-rw burner.

Turns out the issue is with the Burner. I picked up a new external drive and Nero now works fine. Thanx for the input!!!!!
