I have read through the guide section which is very helpful in burning DVD's. But it didnt quite work for me. I installed the decrypter suggested and theres loads of harddisk space. Basically, i think it might have something to do with the settings. what are the correct settings? or the ASPI, what is the correct ASPI and how do i get it? Also, whats NTFS? Basically, once the image is on the harddisk, and i try and rip it to a blank DVD it fails. i dont however get the drop down box with write mode in it...neither do i get the data type box. Can anybody suggest anything to sort this out..thanks a million.......
Sher88, Try it this way: Using DVD Shrink to rip and DVDDecrypter to burn 1. Make a folder on your Desktop> call it Rip Movies 2. Insert Movie in either DVD burner or DVD-Rom and click cancel when it asks you what to use to open the movie 3. Open DVD Shrink> click Open Disc> Shrink does quick analysis 4. Movie Only Option a. Go to Re-author and Click b. Under Main movie slide the main movie to the left under DVD Structure c. You can now remove the languages you do not want and the audio you do not want. 5. Click Backup and go to burn setting and disable Nero if you have Nero 6. Click SelectTarget Drive> click Iso Disc Image 7. Select Target Image File> Browse>Desktop> Rip Movie ( file you made) 8. Make sure to check the box Launch DVDDecrypter to burn the output image 9. click O.K 10. It will now do analysis and then encode the movie and automatically burn with DVDDecrypter The other info you are looking ASPI: It is a software layer that enables programs to communicate with SCSI (and ATAPI) devices. NTFS: Go here for more info than you care to know http://www.ntfs.com/ Hope this helps
sher, welcome to AD, Car.Mike's little guide is just what you need to send you on your way to a successful DVD backup. As you become more adept you might want to take a look at some other methods. I just want to fill ya in on a couple of points. no1-DVDdecrypter can only burn ISO files. If you ripped in file mode or IFO mode it would be unable to burn your file. no2-Decrypter cannot compress or re-author, if your file was over 4.37g's then again, it would be unable to burn your file. no3-You can choose between (or up to ) three file systems for disk partitions on a computer: NTFS, FAT, and FAT32. For video work NTFS is by far preferred. FAT can only work with 2-4g files while NTFS can do 10G. There is one situation in which you might want to choose FAT or FAT32 as your file system. If it is necessary to have a computer that will sometimes run an earlier version of Windows and other times run Windows XP, you will need to have a FAT or FAT32 partition as the primary (or startup) partition on the hard disk. Most earlier versions of Windows cannot access a partition if it uses the latest version of NTFS. I hope this kinda fills the gaps, and good luck! _X_X_X_X_X_[small] [bold]GO VOLS![/bold]..Dell Media4600, XP,Pentium 4 @2.80GHz/800Mz,512MB,280HDw/8MB,17" flat panel,AIO-A920,8xDVD-ROM,integrated 5.1 audio, HPdc4000,PlextorPX-708UF,LiteOn SOHS 832S dual layer[/small]
I have Windows XP and I used the method of ripping just as Car.mike explained earlier. Great and many thanks. Your tutorial worked extremely well for someone like me who has problems with this sort of thing. My DVD works great, but only works on my cpu. It doesn't work on my xbox nor my dvd player. Can you help or anyone help me with this?
Hi, This can be the result of several factors - burner/firmware, media, your player or burn speed. If your burner's firmware is out of date it can result in lessened compatibility with various media. Lower quality media doesn't have the greatest compatibility. Some players don't like burned media. You can check your player's compatibility here: http://www.videohelp.com/dvdplayers If you let us know the make/model burner you're using, it's firmaware version and the brand/type media you're using we can better help you
I am using a DVD +-RW 8x4x12x Firewire by Lacie. I'm burning to a TDK 4.7 GB DVD+RW. It works on my computer, but doesn't on my XBOX or on my Panasonic DVD Player. That link that I was given doesn't even show Lacie products.
Hi, The link was actually to check your Panasonic standalone player RW's tend to be less compatible that the write-once formats so that could be a factor. Would it be possible for you to use Nero Info Tools to give us the exact model and firmware version for your drive? http://www.afterdawn.com/software/cdr_software/cdr_tools/nero_info_tool.cfm
Dag, you are good. Where the heck did you come up with that web site. Anyway, I didn't know where to look on the site for the model. Maybe you were looking for type which is DVD +-R/RW Recorder and Firmware Version is 1.06
I know for a fact XBox doesn't play any RW's ... and some standalones won't play RW's. Try regular +/-R media. _X_X_X_X_X_[small]Dell 8250, Pentium 4 2.80GHz 1.5 GB RDRAM, 200GB HD TDK 840G, Sony DDU-1612 DVD-ROM XP Pro, ATI All-In-Wonder 9000 Pro[/small]
Flip is correct. From personal experience I know some standalone players won't play recorded media. And some that will, won't play RW. I have a Samsung standalone that plays +R great, but will not recognize a RW disc at all.
Thanks for the info. I was using a RW and as soon as I used a -R it was working in no time. You guys are good. Peace Out!
However, (new problem) sometimes when I turn my console on (X...),(w/ mod-chip activated) it acts like it's trying to come on then shuts off, then tries to come on then shuts off like it's trying to take a doo doo. Then flashes Red and Green. It's like it's not getting enough power or something. Anyone have a solution to this?
cyanfalc, don't know much about X Box, I have PS II, but in DVD players, I have seven and the one that consistently plays all my DVD's? The Sony DVP NS425P, a nice little single play unit that only costs 70-90 bucks. It has yet not to play ANY CD or DVD I have put in it,+ or -, R or RW. Just a thought.... You might want to ask the guys in the console back up section, there are 5 sections dealing with X Box alone, and those guys know their stuff. good luck...
Anybody know what it means when i turn on my xbox and it turns on and off 3 times then just flashes red and green? If I disable my mod chip it gives me it works fine, but when I enable the mod chip it won't boot up. Any help please... Thanks all was working fine prior to today. Xecuter 2.2lite+
Sounds like you diagnosed your own problem. Mod chip went out. Check with the guys in the console section to make sure.
