    I have a TDK 4X DVD burner that I really love and never had any problems with it but now TDK no longer makes the 4X +R blank DVD's that I use to buy. I was told the the blank Office Depot disks were good so I bought some and burned a movie with one. The movie looked fine but I only watched afew minutes of it. Rima.com is sending me some sample Ritek blank DVD's to try. Are either of these blank DVD's good to use???? Also, how much of a burned movie do I have to watch before I know its a good burn???? (the whole thing????) With the TDK blanks I never worried about it and whenever I watched a movie they played fine all the way through.

    If you like TDK, then they make 8x discs that should work just fine. If you want to go with other media, I wouldn't trust any of the store brands, go with Taiyo Yuden or other reputable media.

    I would be a little leary of TDK dvd+r media. 50/50 chance of getting some crapola cmc mag made stuff. TDK dvd-r should be ok. I would also recommend staying away from retail store branded media (staples, compusa, office depot etc). Good chance of getting cmc mag again. They like memorex buy their media from the lowest bidder and cmc mag usually gets the bid. Some others to look out for are HP and phillips brand medias. The best two medias are verbatum and taiyo yuden. Some other good ones are sony, fuji (made in japan), and maxell.

    Hi there,

    What speed are you writing those at ?

    If you have TDK DVD+R with Media ID made by CMC Magnenics, you should not burn them faster than 2x, else you will get errors. (My 2 cents worth)

    CMC are the worste media out there (Like Memorex).

    Download VSO Inspector v1.1 --> http://www.vso-software.fr/

    and tell us what is the Media ID of those TDK !

    Usually TDK DVD-R are good, but too many companies make the TDK DVD+R and the media ID code varies too much. You might with a excellent pack of media, or a pack of the worste.
