I got a dvd burner and I know I am supposed to sure nero to put mpegs on them, but when I did that, it didn't play in the player. I could tell it was burned. Do I have to fill the whole blank dvd up or am I doing it wrong. I'm just not sure about the whole process.

can you be a bit more creative in what you are saying.

Does it go something like this. You have a file which you are trying to play on your dvd player.

Basically you need to convert your file to an mpeg2 compatible format before you attempt to burn it with nero. What converter are you using?

Sorry about that. I am still foreign to the right jargin, but I tried using My DVD LE with Roxio, but it keeps saying writing lead-out. I've kept it running, but it doesn't look it it's doing anything or about to finish even though I could see something was done on the disc, the first time I tried it.

How about you tell us just what you are trying to do, burn an original DVD movie, or a downloaded file? Just what process are you using it is unclear. What steps are you taking?

Inserted the blank dvd. Clicked on Roxio. It said add a file, so I added a file. then it said it was burning the file to the disc. Now it's saying writing lead-out. Those are all the steps

What kind of file, was this a ripped movie or did you download it. If it is downloaded it needs to be converted to DVD Compliant files. If it is a ripped DVD original movie, then is it the correct size for the disk, what kind of media are using i.e. + or - R disks. Does your player play that format?

I believe it said it converted it and I am using -R. I'm sure it's something I am doing wrong. I just don't know what that something is. I thought burning an mepg to a blank dvd would be as easy as burning a mp3 to a blank cd. Naive I guess.

@Arniebear...... he has Nero and Roxio, both, on his computer...... they conflict. use one or the other. here is Roxio Zapper:

    http://www.softpedia.com/get/Tweak/Uninstallers/Roxio-Zap.shtml

uninstall Roxio and then use the zapper on it to remove any trace of Roxio in your computer. If you deside to keep Roxio take out Nero.... here is Nero cleaning tools.... do the same thing.... uninstall then use the cleaning tools:

    for Nero 6:

    http://ww2.nero.com/nero6/en/Clean_Tools.html

    for Nero 7:

    http://ww2.nero.com/nero7/enu/Nero7_CleanTool.html

seems like your disk didn't finalize. try it now after you take out Nero or Roxio. Remember..... they conflict and untill you just use one it makes the burning software buggy.

I searched the computer. I only have Roxio on here. You are right, it is not finalizing the disc. I am trying to burn a downloaded mpeg. (A music video)

As stated you need to convert to DVD Compliant files in order to play this on your player, unless your player play's this format.
