Hi there, I hope someone could help me here, I am having real problems getting my discs to playback in standalone dvd players and i dont just mean copying from the originals , i mean trying to copy copied discs as well. I have tried shrink , nero , dvd2one...... same thing errors!!!! I can edit put in titles, chapters .... all works fine on the standalone with great quality.....until about one hour into the dvd and them it starts jumping, skiping and then finally freezing. I do also get the message "no disc" or "insert disc" on my standalones ( i have four different ones in different rooms ) sometimes, but this is not so often and i dont know if it is just a bad copy ?? If someone could help me it would be much appreciated. Many thanks
When using DVD Shrink you need to make a custom target size of 4300. Also perform Deep analysis, and use the AEC controls. When burning the movie you need to make sure that you are not burn over 4X's. These few suggestions should cure your woes. Also only use high quality media such as Sony, Maxell, and Fuji (made in Japan) or Verbatim, Ritek, and Taiyo Yuden.
what is your mid (media id) code it can be found by looking in your log files from either nero, decrypter,or imgburn. or by the use of vso inspector freeware found here => http://www.vso-software.fr/inspector.htm if the original/original copy is playing well then it sounds as if you got a bad batch of blanks do not skimp on your media. as some of the cheaper brands if any good at all will have a sore spot towards the outer rim of the disk causing said skipping! you can try to fix this prob in shrink when converting the image set your output size to around 4300 in edit>prefferences then select custom and insert the new output size! if all this fails please copy/paste the errors that you refferenced earlier you will not scare away any serious help!
Many thanks for your help guys, I have been using Datasafe & Datawrite DVD-R'S & CD-R's, I will have a go at changing the settings on Shrink to 4300 and see if that helps any, think I might also try buying a few "better" discs , just to see if that also helps. If i want to copy an already authored dvd which is less than 4.3gig, can i simply choose the DVD "copy disc" option on nero to make a back up copy, or do i have to burn another one through shrink again. Many thanks again for your help .
