I too had cyclic redunancy error problems with Flight Plan when trying to use dvdshrink with anyDvd running in the background. Clone also would not clone it. I followed some advice here and got the free version of DvdFab express and ripped it to the hard drive. Afterwards shrunk it with dvdshrink and burned it with CloneDvd with no problem. This is an extra step and a bit more time consuming than just using shrink and then clone, but it is always so great when there is new freeware out there to get the job done.
i can't for the life of me get Flighplan to burn, i've tried all the ways people have said to try using dvd shrink 3.2, any dvd, clone dvd, dvd decrypter, and dvd fab and i always get some sort of error...i can usually get it on my computer good with dvd decryter but when i use dvd shrink to shrink it i get errors, at this point i dont even care about getting the bonus features i just want the main movie but i cant even figure out how to just get the movie...any suggestions?
othRaven3 Here's what I did, 1) Ran DVD Decryptor(v3.5.4) and ripped all the files (BUP, IFO, VOB) to a directory (C:\FlightPlan) 2) Downloaded and ran VobBlanker.exe v2.1.0.0(http://www.videohelp.com/tools?tool=580) 3) In VobBlanker --> Input Video Manager: "C:\FlightPlan\Video_TS.ifo" Output Folder: "C:\Folder2" 4) Click "PROCESS!!" note: first time I ran VobBlanker it crashed, so I just ran it again and it worked. 5) Open up DVD Shrink and click on "Open Files" --> Open the files from C:\Folder2 (which are the new Vob IFO and BUP files made by VobBlanker) 6) Do what you would normally do, take out whatever 7) Hit Backup. Hope this helps. I know this thread certianly helped me. TrinidadTTT
Helpppppp!!! Ok, I've used Shrink successfully before and now am having problems with making a back up of Flightplan (that's why I'm here). I read all the suggestions and opted for using Decryptor (v3.5.4) and VobBlanker (v2.1.0.0) as listed by TrinTTT. However, after ripping the DVD to my hd (two files showing #7+gig & > 1meg)I can't seem to get VobBlanker to locate the IFO,BUP,VCB. Is there something I neglected to do with either program? Any help would be much appreciated.
If you're using DVD Decrypter 3.5.4.0, then make sure you ripped the movie using MODE, File F to your hard drive. However, I recommend ripping the movie with the latest from DVDFAB Decrypter (one of the greatest free ripper at the moment). Once you're done ripping with DVDFAB Decrypter, open up VobBlanker and select your VIDEO_TS.IFO file and just PROCESS it through VobBlanker. **EXTREMELY IMPORTANT here: make sure you don't have/run AnyDVD, DVD43 or any cracking engines on the background while you're ripping the movie with DVDFAB Decrypter 2.9.7.2 or when you're "processing" the VIDEO_TS.IFO file through VobBlanker 2.1.0.0. Because if you had AnyDVD or DVD43 running in the background, then you are likely to end up with some kind of issues like "unsynchronized VOB, smaller file (GB), missing parts/scenes from movie, invalid data structure, etc." when you imported/loaded into DVD Shrink or Nero Recode 2. Good luck!!
I can't remember who posted it. But I used DVD Fab Decrypter. Then I used VOB Blanker to place a blank over one of the sectors in VOB. 3 Then I used DVD shrink. My copy is fine.
Thank you, TrinTTT. Now I can get a good night's sleep knowing that info. Seriously, I thought I was going to have to be sedated.
Thank you Alcohol for your advice. After following your guide, I was able to back up my copy successfully and found you were absolutely right about the DVD FAB Express being so much easier to use. I do have one other question though ........... I followed the same procedure with another DVD however after loading VOBBlocker I found two files in the folder I created for the destination of DVD FAB --- one was the VIDEO_TS.IFO and the other was AUDIO_TS.IFO. During occasions such as this, do I first run the VIDEO_TS.IFO through VOBBLOCKER processing and then the AUDIO_TS.IFO or just the VIDEO_TS.IFO? I can't recall if the same thing happened when I backed up my original FLIGHTPLAN DVD.
Thanks to everyone who has posted questions and replies. It's a great way to learn quickly and hopefully as I gain more experience, I'll be able to return some assistance to others. Thanks Again.
@eiffel32 You need to Open the VIDEO_TS.IFO file only and PROCESS through VobBlanker 2.1.0.0. Just incase you're lost when you open up VobBlanker 2.1.0.0, I've made a basic/simple VobBlanker guide below for reference. **NOTE: for future only or whenever you see any warnings when "opening" your VIDEO_TS.IFO and you don't have any WARNINGS, UNSUPPORTED cells/vts or somthing similar like below, then DON'T worry about it, just import your INPUT FOLDER, OUTPUT FOLDER and hit PROCESS at the bottom. However, if you do have the UNSUPPORTED cells, then MAKE SURE you click "PROC.ALL" on the RIGHT to make sure all of the VTS process via the "Action". Best of lucks and happy burning!!
way run thow A vob blanker when you can dvd shrinkto5 gui.. rip with dvdfab then shrinkto5 then burn with nero.. easy you can do the whole dvd or the main movie.. and shrink to a dvd 5..
I tried to rip the ger. version of Flightplan. Even with the latest Version of DVDFab Decrypter 2.9.7.2 it does not work properly, the menus make PowerDVD crash! Although reencoding the whole disc with DVDSHrink worked, the shrinked result makes PowerDVD also crash! Now my problem: After this shit crashed my PowerDVD6 the first Time, I was never able to play mpeg Files anymore on PowerDVD!!! I tried to reinstall PowerDVD, upgrade - everything, but it now cannot Play any mpeg/DVD Files anymore. Xvid/Divx work. Can somebody solve my PowerDVD Problem? This Ripguard Shit makes me mad :-(
I would read this article, the protection you found sounds more like Settec Alpha that was found on the German ver of Mr. and Mrs Smith and installs itself on your computer upon playback of the disk. http://www.cdfreaks.com/news/13038 http://www.settec.net/eng/pro_alphadvd.htm
I don't think so. There was no software installation dialogue, and as far as I can remember there was only a video_ts folder on the disc.
Maybe I just have beginners luck or something, but I swear...in 2 years of copying DVDs I have yet to find a DVD I couldnt copy, unless the physical disc itself was damaged. I use ANYDVD running in the background, then use DVDSHRINK and burn with NERO 7. Never had a problem. Before I started using ANYDVD, I would use DVDSHRINK first, if I got errors I would use DVDFAB and then run through VOBBlanker and then through DVDSHRINK and burn with Nero. Even using my old method, I can still copy any movie I have...even the new releases. Only difference between the old and new method is the time taken.
i used DVDFab Decrypter for Flightplan (2.9.7.3 i think it was, though i may have had 2.9.7.2 installed when i did this movie). Either way i then used just DVD Shrink as per normal.
