i have downloaded a movie, gone through the procedure to burn to dvd-r using nero ...using pioneer dvr109 burner.....it creates menus and transcoding streams and then "FREEZES" and will not go any further, after I abort, the only way to clear screen is to shut down computer. I have burned other movies using same process..can you help/

could you post your Nero log for us to see? It's located in C:\Program Files\Ahead\Nero\NeroHistory.log Make sure you take out your serial number (the one that starts with 1A21 or something like that).
I dont know how to send nero log...I have located it.....its very long but dont know how to get it 2 you..I am not really comp literate
hi gwendolin If you want to post your nero log right click the entire log, choose copy and when you come to AD to post on your dialog box right click inside the message box and choose paste. Or the easier way is when you open the folder with the nero log at the top of the open window choose edit, highlight select all and then under the same edit function choose copy. When you goto put a message in your post on AD click once inside the box and at the top once again choose edit and hit paste. Your nero log will be posted.

okay after getting a headache from trying to sort out all these different logs do you have the latest version of nero installed? I saw 6.6.0.14 then 6.6.0.8. If you installed over the older version uninstall all nero products, use the nero cleantool and try re-installing the software (after you reboot of course). Also I don't want to assume but did you install incd (included w/ nero) as it seems you have a virtual drive or some packet writing software. Even though it is from nero incd can interfere with the drive as it is always tryig to access it. In your logs is your nero key as well..be sure to use the edit feature and remove the serial as you don't want someone else to get it. your dma is off try the following link to turn it back on http://home.comcast.net/~bbmayo/DMA.html looks like you have 2 versions of nero installed on your pc philips is not a very reliable brand of blank dvd. as I thought you have incd and veritas backitup driver (not sure about the veritas one). As i stated earlier in this post uninstall incd4 and reboot. Whew my head hurts now. Will be back with one of the resident experts on nero logs.
Soooooooooooo sorry for the lengthy log. At present I am downloading some files and will follow your instructions then. I did try using a TDK RW but same thing happened, took almost 2 hours doing whatever it does before burning and nothing else. The movie is meet the fockers and I have downloaded both mpeg and avi. I dont seem to have trouble with other movies to date. I do have incd installed...dont know what it does so WILL remove it
Bloody hell that was hard work!, have started from scratch and attacked the sections of logfile bit by bit. PS i forgot to mention the DMA settings but that's been covered by one or more of the other guys above.. - looks like you have Alochol 120% installed, not a problem, just mentioning what the AXV line entry is derived from. Wish i'd have started at the bottom at last section of log instead. However, by trudging thru the entire logfile, i've built up a very good picture of the different attempts/methods you tried along the way. I would normally only look at last section of a log whenever someone posts more than one entry but this time the whole log showed that you were trying various things to root out your problem yourself. Follow above sensible rules for burning then you shouldn't need to verify anything. To check a few discs for CRC errors (corruption), download dvdinfopro (free) and run a few discs thru it's CRC check.
Thanks for your help, I will be away from computer for 18hours or so...I will follw advice then. I have 768 megs of RAM. Cant locate incd..any clues how to locate it.
InCD is part of Nero. Uninstall completely as decribed above, then when you install 6.6.0.14, just DON'T pick InCD to install, just Nero Burning Rom
grrr...probably took creaky 15 mins to see what took me 40 mins to see..grrr. Nah seriously I thought that was a virtual drive with the dma off and sometimes burning a music cd I get that kind of event on my log file. But hey the whole point is to get gwendolin off n running in the burn arena.
I also noticed you have no WinASPI installed. Probably not the problem here, just thought I'd bring it to everyone's attention. Here's a bit of info on ASPI: [bold]<11>What is ASPI and do I need it?
