I have been trying to convert vhs to dvd so I can maybe get rid of the 300 + vhs movies I have here. I have been captureing them as an mpeg2 with video explosion deluxe but none of my burning programs recognise the mepg2 format. I have roxio easy media creator, nero and power director for programs.

If I save the video as an avi file, will dvd shrink compress it and allow nero to burn it to disc???

Verify that the files are MPEG2 using 'GSpot' by dragging the file onto the window and checking the codec used by the file.
Nero Vision should accept an mpeg file for conversion.
DVD Shrink only accept files in DVD format (an actual DVD, a 'VIDEO_TS' folder containing the files in DVD format or an ISO image of a DVD) - no AVI files..
