Nero 5 and 6 are SUPPOsed to do everything necessary to make a DVD. However, Nero 6 has made one ONE DVD for me and then it started with an error report claiming NeAcEnc.dll is missing, which it is not. Nero does not give intelligent answers to questions. In fact, they answer sometimes with am agressive question in return. Also they are slow to respond. Service oriented, they are not. Studio (.5 has made some very good DVDs for me without a hitch!

Nero 6 recode problems have just be sorted i think, 3 days ago. In actual fat using Nero 6 before 3 days ago could have led to system files being deleted off your computer. Scary....

LOL , nothing to do with thread title at all

TMPGEnc DVD Author is the best encoder (I havent tried Nero 6 yet but all Nero before that are crap at everything other than burning)

I still say at the end of the day to all users here @ Afterdawn that either Nero or RecordNow will do what you need it to...

Just preference really , when it comes to it !

The only problems I have had with Nero 5.5.10.20 is when my batery is not fully charged and error a disk when fully charges. I stayed with this as it fully worked. Have not tried any updates as others complain. Are most of the problems out of Nero 6? ( on topic with title). For etniez question I would recomend TMPGeng. But Roxio6 will take .avi, .mpeg, divx and burn succesful DVD's.

They have fixed the major problems off the recode facitlity in Nero 6, there are probably a few bugs left. Always are!

I may be a slow learner (not seeking confirmation, here :))but what I am reading in these forum threads is that TMPGenc should usd to convert avi to MPEG2; TMPGenc DVD Author to generate the ifo, bup and vob files, and finally Nero can burn the DVD. It is a shame that one program can not successfully do all of these processes.

That is correct about converting from avi to VOB DVD compliant. Not usre about an all-in-one solution though.

what i'm reading here is that even if i get the error message the dissk might still be viewable. i've thrown about 6 disk away because of that....gets to 99% then says error message.

JWMED, you can take a .avi and make a stand alone DVD playable DVD with Roxio6. By the sounds of it Nero may also be able to do that but I haven't tried. So for one click lazy solutions, DVDxcopy will back up a DVD and Roxio6 will make a divx or .avi into a viewable DVD on a stand alone DVD player.
I will have to get on the band wangon and test Nero6. Reluctant as have a fully working verison, but I do like testing new things.

Contrary to what you have been reading in some of these thread discussions, Nero 6 (through Nero Vision Express) does take digital video and capture as MPEG and then create the ifo, bup and vob files. I did it today.

The PROBLEM is that I could only do it ONCE. After the first try I started getting errors again. I finally received a good answer from Nero. Alphan Cakir at Nero gave me a detailed set of instructions which I followed and everything worked. IF I can get the program to repeat I will have no need to go through all those different steps that are sometimes being advocated, i.e. a separate program for converting avi to MPEG, a separate program for ifo, bup, vob, and yet another (Nero?) to burn.

I also have a good program already (Pinnacle Studio 8) but I never give up on a program until I get it working. So Nero is in my sights now.

i did another back up with nereo and got the same error. this time i watced the whole movie to see if anything is wrong . the credits will be the problem if u get the 99% error. that's not a problem if u don't have a movie that does not out rtakes in the credits (jackie chan movies) i take it there is no way around this error. i tried record now and it does not work at all (using verbatim -R disk)

So are we now saying that using NERO 6 you can take an AVI file and in just a few small steps end up with a DVD that will pay standalone ?
No seperate converting MPEG or VOB or anything cos NERO will do all this for you ?
