I'm using Nero StartSmart and I'm wanting to put JPG, GIF and PNG pictures onto DVD+r and DVD-R cds but I'm running into problems. I want to take the photos I have stored off of floppy disks and I want to put them onto DVD cds and I want to be able to use them for future use.

First off in order for me to upload the images onto the DVD cds I need to have the files in either NRG or ISO format and I haven't the foggiest idea how to convert JPG, GIF and PNG formats to NRG and ISO. If any one has any recommendations or suggestions please let me know.

Plus I haven't the foggiest idea how to burn the images onto the DVD cds. Would I need to make a Data disk? Would I be able to access the photos at a later date if they are on a data disk?

    Hello.

nrg (Nero specific) and iso are file extensions for DVD image files. DVD image files are the digital 0/1 bit by bit representations of the stuff stored on the disk.

Just burn the pictures as whatever format they are to a data DVD.

In Nero Express, select Data > Data Disk.
    Click the Add button.
Browse and select the folder/file you want put on the DVD and click Add.
Repeat the above step for all files/folders you want on the DVD.
When finished adding things, click the Finished button.
Back in the original window, click the Next button.
Select the recorder (dvd burner), set the burn speed, provide a volume label for the DVD, and Burn.

The burned DVD will be explorable like a hard disk or floppy drive. The files will be in their original formats.

i am following everyone's instructions but the dvd isn't burning properly. i'm wondering if it's the dvds. i tried before to burn some avi files onto them but that never worked either. when i put them into the computer nero automatically pops up and when i check to see if something is on the disks it tells me that there is nothing there. if any one can help me, i'd be rather appreciative and greatful.

    Hello again.

Edit out your program serial number from your post. To edit the post, clcik the pencil/paper icon in the upper right immediately above the post. The serial # begins 1A...

We don't really like Nero 6.6.1.4 around these parts as it seems to be a little buggy. We recommend version 6.6.0.18. If you want to downgrade, run the Nero 6 Clean Tool first:

    http://ww2.nero.com/nero6/us/Nero_6_CleanTool.html

Then download and install 6.6.0.18 from these links:

    Package 1: http://httpdl1.usw.nero.com/software/Nero6/Nero-6.6.0.18_no_yt.exe
    Package 2: http://httpdl1.usw.nero.com/software/Nero6/NVE-3.1.0.21_no_yt.exe

    Physical memory : 239MB (245228kB)

You're really short on memory and things often get dicy when this is the case. Investigate the possibility of getting additonal memory, either another 256 or 512. Depending on the type it can be expensive or cheap.

Laptop burners are very finicky as to what they like. Power calibration errors as in your case suggest a media problem. I suggest trying a different brand of media. Verbatim is easy to find and is very good. We also recommend Taiyo Yuden (available online) and Fuji and Sony media labeled as Made in Japan (usually by Taiyo Yuden). I wouldn't buy very much until I found some media the burner likes. Do you have any friends you could exchange a couple disks with just to try?

Last possible write address on media: 2295103 (510:01.28, 4482MB)
    Last address to be written: 5295 ( 1:10.45, 10MB)

It doesn't look like you're burning very much to the disk. You might as well use a CD instead of a DVD if this is all you have.

No problems. Afterdawn doesn't want to promote serial number theft. Let us know how you make out.
