    Hi jor5dan
    Here's some suggestions:
Your firmware can use an update - the latest is BSOY.
This should help with 16x Sony's you are using. Probabaly the reason for the illegal disc. Those are newer media made by Taiyo Yuden.
Turn DMA make on - won't help w/ the illegal disc but best to have all drives in the faster transfer mode.

512 mb would be better. Upgrade if you can. In the mean time keeps as much memory free as possible - no multitasking and shit down any unnecessary processes.
Take Nero down a notch to 6.6.0.18. Uninstall (write down your serial # 1st) run the clean tool then install 6.6.0.18.

    Package 1
    http://httpdl1.usw.nero.com/software/Nero6/Nero-6.6.0.18_no_yt.exe

    Package 2 (recode & vision)
    http://httpdl1.usw.nero.com/software/Nero6/NVE-3.1.0.21_no_yt.exe

Try these and let us know how it goes - good, bad or otherwise.
