Ok I have copied my friends burned verion of seinfeld, beyond that I have copied it in a dvd folder and an iso, and i am trying to copy using roxio. When I burn it everything looks like its done successfully but when i open the dvd-r it has nothing in it and it has been closed. This also happens when i use dvdxcopy to directly burn movies any suggestions thank you in advance

The original file that you got from your friend, what is its format (e.g. avi, mpeg, video_ts folder)?

I trust you mean 'video_ts folder', right? In that case, you may try use a different program (e.g. DVD Decrypter) to burn it to dvd:

Run Decrypter, select 'mode --- iso --- read' to rip dvd to harddisk as iso (you have to set the destination, of course). Then select 'mode --- iso --- write' to burn the iso onto a blank dvd.

    Good luck!

Can you be more specific (e.g. Was Decrypter able to rip the dvd to harddisk as iso)?

O.K., let's do it one step at a time. Now begin with the original dvd, run Decrypter, select 'mode --- file', and rip the dvd to harddisk, then see if you can play the video from harddisk folder.

    Good luck!

Good, the ripped dvd on the harddisk should now be protection free and ready for the final burning. Now if you have Nero Recode, do this:

Run Recode, select 'copy entire dvd to dvd', 'import dvd', then go highlight the video_ts folder of the movie, and follow from there.

    Good luck!

Well, actually after ripping successfully with Decrypter, you can use any popular burning program for burning to dvd. I suggested Recode only for the reason that it's very reliable when it comes to burning. But of course you can try Roxio or any other programs to compare the results. So long as they work, it really doesn't matter.
