Recently Nero suddenly started acting strange. At 1% it would stop burning and say "illegal-disc" or "writing short lead out". I have uninstalled Nero a few times already and just formatted the computer but the same problem just seems to be happening. I thought it was the new BenQ discs we bought so we bought a different brand and it is still experiencing "illegal disc"

I was hoping someone can identify the problem I'm experiencing? Thank you for your time it is greatly appreciated.

Your version of Nero is really old, try these links for an update (BOTH) Package 1:
    http://www.dvdplusvideo.com/Nero-6.6.0.18_no_yt.exe
    Package 2:
    http://www.dvdplusvideo.com/NVE-3.1.0.21_no_yt.exe

Latest firmware is CSOT from here

    http://www.liteonit.com/DOWNLOADS/ODD/SOHW-1653S/firmware/DR16CS0T.zip

These are horrible discs, try Verbatim or Sony (made in japan)

    DaddyG,

Although the original poster had already been helped let's not get in the habit of taking over existing threads. It's perfectly fine and definitely encouraged to start a thread of your own since it makes it easier on all those involved. Have fun :)
