Can anyone help me please. I have not changed any settings as far as i know and i have started getting coasters after over 500 good burns. I am using Verbatim (coding as TYG02 or MCC03RG20). I have been using the TY Verbs with no problems for some time and now i have got some of the MCC03 ones and they are burning coasters. I tried going back to the TY's but they are also coasters now so i do not hink it is media related. It is burning almost all the disc and then failing. I even tried reducing the burn speed to 2x but it still burned a coaster. Here is a log of a failed burn: Windows XP 5.1 IA32 WinAspi: - ahead WinASPI: File 'C:\Program Files\Ahead\Nero\Wnaspi32.dll': Ver=2.0.1.56, size=163910 bytes, created 02/04/2003 08:13:44 Nero API version: 6.0.0.0 Using interface version: 6.3.1.4 Installed in: C:\Program Files\Ahead\Nero\ Application: ahead\Nero - Burning Rom Recorder: <_NEC DVD_RW ND-1300A> Version: 1.0C - HA 1 TA 0 - 6.0.0.0 Adapter driver: <atapi> HA 1 Drive buffer : 2048kB Bus Type : default (0) -> ATAPI, detected: ATAPI === Scsi-Device-Map === DiskPeripheral : Nikimi atapi Port 0 ID 0 DMA: On CdRomPeripheral : _NEC DVD_RW ND-1300A atapi Port 1 ID 0 DMA: On CdRomPeripheral : IDE DVD-ROM 16X atapi Port 1 ID 1 DMA: On ======================= AutoRun : 1 Excluded drive IDs: CmdQueuing : 1 CmdNotification: 2 WriteBufferSize: 83886080 (0) Byte ShowDrvBufStat : 0 EraseSpeed : 0 BUFE : 0 Physical memory : 1023MB (1048092kB) Free physical memory: 603MB (618252kB) Memory in use : 41 % Uncached PFiles: 0x0 Use Static Write Speed Table: 0 Use Inquiry : 1 Global Bus Type: default (0) Check supported media : Disabled (0) 27.4.2006 NeroAPI 14:54:40 #1 Phase 112 File APIProgress.cpp, Line 232 DVD-Video files reallocation started 14:54:40 #2 Phase 114 File APIProgress.cpp, Line 232 DVD-Video files reallocation completed (no file modified) 14:54:40 #3 Phase 111 File APIProgress.cpp, Line 232 DVD-Video files sorted 14:54:40 #4 Text 0 File Reader.cpp, Line 118 Reader running 14:54:40 #5 Text 0 File Writer.cpp, Line 127 Writer _NEC DVD_RW ND-1300A running 14:54:40 #6 ISO9660GEN -11 File geniso.cpp, Line 3814 First writeable address = 0 (0x00000000) 14:54:40 #7 ISO9660GEN -11 File geniso.cpp, Line 3814 First writeable address = 0 (0x00000000) 14:54:40 #8 Text 0 File Burncd.cpp, Line 3081 Turn on Disc-At-Once, using DVD media 14:54:41 #9 Text 0 File DlgWaitCD.cpp, Line 224 Last possible write address on media: 2298495 (510:46.45) Last address to be written: 2227743 (495:03.18) 14:54:41 #10 Text 0 File DlgWaitCD.cpp, Line 229 Write in overburning mode: FALSE 14:54:41 #11 Text 0 File DlgWaitCD.cpp, Line 1688 Recorder: _NEC DVD_RW ND-1300A, Media type: DVD-R Disc Manufacturer: TYG02 - Disc Application Code: 64, Disc Physical Code: 193 14:54:41 #12 Text 0 File ThreadedTransferInterface.cpp, Line 757 Setup items (after recorder preparation) 0: TRM_DATA_MODE1 (CTransferItem) 2 indices, index0 (150) not provided original CD pos #0 + 2227744 (2227744) = #2227744/495:3.19 relocatable, CD pos for caching/writing not required/required, no patch infos -> TRM_DATA_MODE1, 2048, config 0, wanted index0 0 blocks, length 2227744 blocks [_NEC DVD_RW ND-1300A ] -------------------------------------------------------------- 14:54:41 #13 Text 0 File Burncd.cpp, Line 3318 Recorder and media-info ======================= Burning to _NEC DVD_RW ND-1300A on a DVD-R media 14:54:41 #14 Text 0 File ThreadedTransferInterface.cpp, Line 910 Prepare recorder _NEC DVD_RW ND-1300A for write in cue-sheet-DAO DAO infos: ========== MCN: TOCTYPE: 0x0 Session Closed, CD fixated Tracks 1 to 1: TRM_DATA_MODE1, 2048/0x0, ISRC "", FilePos 0 307200 267759616 14:54:41 #15 Phase 24 File APIProgress.cpp, Line 232 Caching of files started 14:54:41 #16 Phase 25 File APIProgress.cpp, Line 232 Caching of files completed 14:54:41 #17 Phase 36 File APIProgress.cpp, Line 232 Burn process started at 4x (5,520 KB/s) 14:54:41 #18 Text 0 File ThreadedTransferInterface.cpp, Line 2104 Verifying CD position of item 0 (relocatable, CD pos, no patch infos, orig at #0): write at #0 14:54:41 #19 Text 0 File DVDR.cpp, Line 1407 Recording mode: Sequential Recording Mode 14:54:41 #20 Text 0 File Mmc.cpp, Line 18119 Set BUFE: JustLink -> ON 14:54:41 #21 Text 0 File DVDR.cpp, Line 1522 Start write address at LBA 0 DVD high compatibility mode: No 14:54:41 #22 Text 0 File Cdrdrv.cpp, Line 7827 ---- DVD Structure: Physical Format Information (00h) ---- Layer: 0, Address: 0 (0 h), AGID: 0; rafigold It sure looks like it's a media issue. Here: 14:54:59 #23 Text 0 File Writer.cpp, Line 318 [bold]14:54:59.421 - _NEC DVD_RW ND-1300A : Queue again later (Intervall : 11msec)[/bold] 15:05:53 #24 SCSI -1135 File Cdrdrv.cpp, Line 1361 SCSI Exec, HA 1, TA 0, LUN 0, buffer 0x01B70000 Status: 0x04 (0x01, SCSI_ERR) HA-Status 0x00 (0x00, OK) TA-Status 0x02 (0x01, SCSI_TASTATUS_CHKCOND) Sense Key: 0x03 [bold](KEY_MEDIUM_ERROR)[/bold] Sense Code: 0x0C Sense Qual: 0x00 CDB Data: 0x2A 0x00 0x00 0x1A 0xF8 0x20 0x00 0x00 0x20 0x00 0x00 0x00 Sense Data: 0x70 0x00 0x03 0x00 0x00 0x00 0x00 0x0A 0x00 0x00 0x00 0x00 0x0C 0x00 [bold]15:05:53 #25 CDR -1135 File Writer.cpp, Line 335 Write error[/bold] The write error shown here usually indicates that either the burner, DVD-ROM drive or hard drive may have DMA turned off, but your log shows that DMA is enabled for all devices. But when the above condition is combined with what is displayed here: Data in Burst Cutting Area (BCA) does not exist [bold]Media Specific: 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 - 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 ................[/bold] 02 FE 10 00 02 FF A0 00 - 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 ................ 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 - 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 ................ The media specific area is blank (00 00 00 00 .......), this indicates that the burner is unable to correctly recognize the disks you're using and tries to apply a generic write strategy when trying to burn/write to the disk and is failing. Since your burners firmware is upto date and you state that your using the same media, I have to believe that something about that media's characteristics has changed and the burner's current write strategy can't get the job done. Is this a new spool, are you using the media at the bottom of the spool, is the media old??? To rule out the burner and the media, try getting another brand like Sony DVD+Rs and see what happens, and try not to burn any lower that at 4X speed. Last, you might want to consider updating nero to a more current version, your is pretty old.
Thanks for the quick response. The MCC Verbs are a new batch that i just bought, but the TY Verbs are part of an old batch that i have been using for quite a while. They both code out fine with DVD Info and DVD Identifier. I know it is quite an old version of Nero but "if it aint broke dont fix it". i had no problems at all so didnt see any reason to update. I will try to get hold of some other media to try out.
