hi i have this problem on 2 pcs,i use nero for burning files with game demos, clips, software downloaded frm net etc.when it comes to burning its all fine and finishes with open window saying that its sucssesful etc. but when i take the cd/dvd or r/wr-cd to my other pc or try to load it on same pc i see that all stuff i burned is there but if i try to open a file from the cd or try to copy to hard drive my pc seems to get stuck and nothing happens not only the file wouldn't open but even if i try to do somthing else on pc its like it freeze, and then i take out the cd and everything back to normal, exept that for the 100time i wasted another blanck cd/dvd.
pls help as it happens on my 2 pcs with both windowsxp formatted and 2 versions of nero.i guess it could be a setting.

until we see a Nero log we can only guess what happened and also what files were you burning? seems that the disk is not being recognized or something and anything is possible..... show us your logs:

Nero 6 history log location: Program Files>Ahead>Nero>NeroHistory.txt

Nero 7 history log location: Program Files>Nero>Nero 7>Core>NeroHistory.tx

ok so this is it for the nero 6 ,but mind you that after it finishes burning it always say that it was succsesful, the problems began when tryin to open files from burned cd/dvd.and the files i burn are a mix of game demoes, movie clips or thrailers and software downloaded fro the net mostly.

first off ..... edit out your serial # ... it starts right after your name (Ivan.... which is my name, too!) 1A**-****-****-****-****-****
there is a pen and paper icon in the right hand corner of your reply.. hit that and take out your serial # .... you don't want people to pirate your serial # all over the net! Nero won't like that!

you're Sony drive has new firmware: KYR6
    get it here: http://forum.rpc1.org/dl_search.ph

you're at the minimum on memory... do not multi task, go on the internet and shut down unnecessary programs running in the background, and even shut your anti virus programs off while burning! adding more memory would be nice.

you have packet writing software on your computer: Roxio or Record now ....Packet writing utilities are notorious for interfering with burn processes, as the way it works is to continually poll the burner to check for new media. This prevents the burn application gaining exclusive access to the burner, and sense code errors will happen - every time. Get rid of all packet writing utilities. They are more trouble than they are worth.

and then there is the compatibility issue:

there are plenty of reasons why certain dvds won't play in other players:

    1. burning speeds: burn at 4x so there will be less writing errors (rule of thumb is to burn at half the rated speed of the disk--8X disk burn at 4x).
    2. read manual for your stand alone player and use the disks that will play in your player. If your player is less than 2 yrs old then it should play the + or - R disks! I said SHOULD that's why you read the manual.
    3. try booktyping your drive to DVd-ROM so it will make your +R disks more compatible to players. Read this:
    http://k-probe.com/bitsetting-booktype-faq.php
    4. make sure that there are no finger prints or scratches on your disk that make it hard for the player to read the disk!
    5. use good quality media (rule of thumb....buy the ones that are Made in Japan.) Verbatim is a top notch disk and is the only exception to this rule....some Verbatims are made in Taiwan and they are top notch!
    6. and don't burn too close to the outer edge of the disk ..... which will make the disk unreadable! but using good media you will be able to burn close to the edge better than lesser quality media. Just in case I only burn no closer than 4400MB, so if you can set your programs to that, all the better!

follow these little tips of the trade and you'll have better success! good luck.

    also read this:
    http://www.cdfreaks.com/print/article/113
why the +R media is better than the -R media

and then I hope you didn't put mixes of games, videos, trailors and such all on ONE disk did you? the structure would be all out of wack!

10 you so much.thats very useful.
the only problem i have is that when i try to run the:Q28A-BR_KYR6
im getting this ["error":no matched drive detected! The utility is only for SONY DVD RW DW-Q28A drive.
    Detected drives : ]
so as you can see its not detecting my drive when mine is exactly the sony mentioned up here.
is this normal to happen or i making somthing wrong when im trying to update this new firmware: KYR6 ?\
