Ok so I have a 3540A that i just got. Have a bunch of mcc 004 003 and 03rg media. GREAT MEDIA. I choose 8x to burn in DVD dycryteper It starts at 4x till like 20% then moves to 6.3x till like 50% then it goes to 8x until the final 5% Is this normal or should it start right away at 8x It took about 8-9 minutes for the dvd
Thats not a LONG time for DVD Decrypter to burn a movie, the slower the speed its burnt at the better the final result. I always select a slow speed but I dont sit and watch the speed for 9mins as it looks like you have.
Yeah, that's a normal time. I usually burn at 4x which takes about 15 minutes. If you burn at a slower speed, you'll get less errors.
Oh No!! not 8-9 minutes?! The humanity. Do what you would do when you compress, just go watch tv or something. Nearly everyone hear will tell you 4x is the way to go.
being a 4x freak i'm slowly starting to try/trust 8x, but only on one of my drives (the LG 4163B), the other drive (LG 4167B) is a bit picky about 8x, sometimes fails (in Nero) at the lead-in stage but when i use that same disc at 4x in same drive it's ok. wierd as i mostly use (lots of) Verbatim TY discs.. @ffactory - try burning at 4x, see how you go for a while, it could be that your setup can't quite sustain 8x
My burns at 4x take approximately 14:42. Not too long for me as I am usually doing something else and at my age time flys by LOL. Like my Dad says "What I used to do all night now takes me all night to do" LOL
i've been told that 4x is not a good practice at cdfreaks - http://club.cdfreaks.com/showthread.php?t=152696&goto=newpost - however i'm also told that CMC are some of the best media whenever i post there so i don't worry about their comments too much however as i mentioned in my previosu reply, with one of my LG drives i am starting to be able to do 8x so i might get 'modern' yet. However i'd still recommend 4x for most ppl unless they're confident their setups/media can sustain 8x consistently..
Hi there, This is normal, cause you burner burns in different ways. What are CAV, CLV, PCAV, ZCLV & OPC? http://www.dvd-recordable.org/Reviews+index-req-showcontent-id-134.phtml All explained there... And of course, it might slow down if your computer can't fully send enought data to the burner. I rarely even burn at 4x, since I always average at 3x since my pc is so busy doing other stuff, the burner constantly stops to fill up the buffer before it continues. So burning at 8x might not be after than burning at 4x anyway, if you have lots of tasks running in the background. I always burn at 2x, I start the burn and walk away !
All You would be shocked at what the lazar lens looks like after a couple of months of useā¦.some are finding out that burning at 4x is a problem.I burn at 8x with out a problem all the time, but i do take my burner a-part and clean the lens with a vcr cleaner and sheep skin swab,as the same that I use to clean vcr heads. Now that tells ye my age,*
