I was told that you can get better video quality if you burn at a slower speed. i.e... 2x is better than 16x. Is this true or was I talking to an idiot?
Before I knew how wrong I was I burned over 200 disk at 8X all of them good quality. After spending a lot of time lurking on this site I discovered that I was doing it all wrong. I burned the last 900 disk at 4X. I can not tell the difference in color or sound between the two but the experts say to burn at 4X so that is what I do. That way if I post with a problem they can not say -- I told you so.
For DVD burning, I highly recommend burning at 4X (it's the best and safest). Go here http://forums.afterdawn.com/thread_view.cfm/265933 for more info on burning 4X versus 16X burning. I've tested with my own eyes, the 16X burning results were poor on Nero CD-DVD Speed scans. Even if I burned with top notch media like genuine Yuden, Verbatim "Advanced Azo" and Maxell (Hitachi - made in japan), I still keep it at 4X because I don't want any of my valuable backups turns into "coasters" and freeze down the road.
