I have some .SUB and .IDX subtitle files for a .AVI i have. I'd like to convert the .AVI to .VOB's and include the subtitles, for a DVD, please reccomend software to do this. Thanks in advance EDIT: It would also be super if i could move the subtitles down beneath the screen and make them smaller as its a movie in widescreen and when i just played them on the computer it was really annoying that it overlayed on the picture
Easily enough done but are you trying to hardcode the subtitles into your video or are you wanting it to be a selectable stream?
If that's the case, you need an author program that will support subtitles and urusoft subtitle workshop to convert them to the particular kind you need. Make sure that the subtitles are set to the right time index as well, some dvd authors use 30 fps by default which will cause a slowly worsening sync issue. Some use 29.97 fps. You can determin the input (original framerate) by looking up the framerate for the avi that you're using and then convert it to the appropriate framerate for your author.
Sure np. For subtitle editing and conversion I use urusoft subtitle workshop. It has a way to tell it both the input framerate (which would be the framerate of the original avi), and control output framerate. I know DVD workshop gives you the option when importing subtitles to tell it the framerate (a radio button to select 29.97 or 30 when using NTSC). As far as telling the framerate of the original file, I usually use gspot for any video information on AVI's.
Subtitle workshop only supports text based subs. VOBSubs are bitmap based. Easiest would be to convert to sup, then author with MuxMan, ReJig, IfoEdit, etc.
I know this is kind of a stupid question but, in subtitle workshop, after i have all the subtitles added to the movie, how do I put it all together and save it so the origonal movie has the subtitles fully added to it? When I click save as, it gives me a bunch of wierd output formats, like sonicdvd and such to save it as and I dont understand this.
Ofolion the only program that work for me is convertxtodvd just extract the sub files and just add to the avi folder, simple.
How do you get it so the subtitles are permanant. So you can burn the movie to a dvd and have the subtitles on the movie?
