I'm using DVD43 from your site. Works good thanks. I'm using a trial version of clone. I'm also using a new copy of DVDXCOPY plat. I can get the movie to the hard drive no problem. I can get the movie to copy on a blank DVD but quality is bad. Jumpy, and lines through the picture. I have optorte 16x dvd-+rw drive. The properties say its functioning normally. Drivers OK generic 16x. I tried slowing the write speed to 8x,4x,2x no joy.

    Any advice?

There's a good chance both of those are made by CMC MAG, especially if they are +r, which is the worst media manufacturer out there. Use this free proggy http://dvd.identifier.cdfreaks.com/ and tell us the manufacturer and ID.

ooof...another one learns the hard way...i would stay away from both TDK and HP media...CMC MAG monster is only a step away~ :)

try Taiyo Yuden (either format) and Verbatim (dvd+r format to be on the safe side) :)

Sure enough, CMC. Both TDK and HP disks are CMC. I bought the least expensive disks and thought they would work. Could it really be the disks? I'll go but some Verbatim later today and try again.

Which program do you use to get the movie fron your hard drive to the blank DVD?

The CMC crap is your problem. You said they were the cheapest, well you get what you pay for. In the end cheap crap cost you more. You can't go wrong with Verbatim. Clone is a good program, fast good quality and fairly cheap to buy. If you want to use free progams DVD Decrypter and DVD Shrink are the way to go. I personaly use DVD RB/CCE for my backups

Hey wolf10, I am one of the many users of dvd shrink and dvd decrypter. I even use nero to do some of my burning.Very nice, quality backups using these free programs. Nero wasn't free, but an oem version came with my burners.

Ditch that c-mag, aka crap-mag media. You got a local staples, bestbuy,or office depot?

I tried some sony disks. My disk copy jamed at 23%.
My old TDK and HP's Jammed at 18%.

Are some DVD drives better than others? Mine is an Optorite 16x.

Oh yea! Some are better readers, better writers, and the overall compatability can be a big difference. It's like media,it comes down to quality.
I have 5 pc dvd burners and 1 tv dvd recorder and I know all of them have different variations as to which stand alone players they will play in. They never gave me the issues like you describe, only no disc inserted type of errors.

List your actual burner model as mort posted.
    What format are you using?
Have you tried the opposite format?
