    Which burner?
I have tried a few 16x burns on a Sony DRU-800A (Lite-onSOHW-1693S) drive, but the quality score is slightly less than a 12X burn which seem to give the better score. The time difference between 12 and 16 is fairly slight and not really worth it. Just my 2¢ worth.

16x works for some you have to have a pretty nice system to make it work correctly. burning at 8x or 12x at the most is still you're best choice

I have burned a lot, a lot of discs at 16x with a Pioneer 111D. They were mostly Sonys and Verbs. I think as long as you don't go over to unofficial speeds such as 20x, you will be perfectly fine.

    A fun crossflashing link.
I crossflashed my DRU-800A back to the original Lite-On it was intended to be.
