I bought some high capacity CDRS (800 MB/ 90min) to burn some of my Divx movie files which are more than 720MB onto them. However, it would not work. Is it a Nero problem or a CDRW problem. How can I fix the problem to burn the movies onto this huge pile of 800MB cdrs i collected..?? Appreciate any help!

    Can you provide more details?

How exactly does it fail to work?
Does it fail to burn to the disc? If it fails to burn to the disc, did you go into Nero's Preferences->Expert settings and set the overburning mode for the media you are using?
Does it burn, but fail to play back on any devices you tested?

Do you have the latest firmware for your recorder? Do you have the latest version of Nero 6?

I tried burning the movie file onto the 800mb disc as a data files, which is how i burn all my avi files. but nero came up with a msg saying it can't write onto this type of cd or something like that and just aborts the burning process. It fails to even start burning onto the disc. I did go to the settings and set the overburning mode to 90min, which is the capacity of my new cds. My reason for doing so is because some of my movies are more than 720MB and they cannot fit onto a regular 700MB disc, which is why i got the 800MB discs. I have a cendyne 48X burner and i d/l the firmware for the recorder, but it failed to install and it gave a "ASPI Manager..." something message. and i am not sure if its the latest version of nero6 but it is a nero 6 with Nero express in it. Wld this be a 1. CDR media prob 2. CDR recorder problem 3. software burning problem? can i burn CDRs with a dvd burner. I want to burn these movie files just as divx files as a data cd to play on my dvp 642 player but i didn't expect the problems that i would be having now. Not much of a techie, appreciate any help and advice.

    Thanks

This could be a Software or a firmware issue. It could even be defective media.

I would first upgrade the Nero software to the latest to rule the software out.

You may need to contact the MFG of the recorder to see if they support that brand of 90min media as not all recorders will.

Not being able to upgrade the firmware could be a problem, as in many cases all that is need is to upgrade the firmware for the drive to support the media.

And yes DVD Recorders can write to CDR media, and if you have a DVD Recorder you should try it with that media.

I don't know the brand of the cdr media. but i bought it online on dvdsupply.com
I presume i can d/l the nero upgrade from their website?
Can ordinary cd burners burn onto 800MB cds, or can it only support the regular 700MB cds?

I have logged a complaint with cendyne about the problem with their firmware but no reply as yet. their burners aren't that good.

    Thanks for the help.

Yes, you can download the latest Nero software from our website at www.nero.com

And most new model CD and DVD recorders can burn to 90min media, but not all.

As for lodging a complaint with Cendyne, sorry but your out of luck there as they have been out of business for a number of months now. :-(
