Hi there i recently purchased a toshiba laptop with a MATSHITA DVDRAM UJ-841S burner in it. When i burn a dvd I am only able to burn at 2x speeds when the burner specs for dvd-r are 8x? I notice when there is no media in the drive it tells me i can burn at 8x which is normal and when i put a blank dvd in the drive it tells me i can only burn at 2x and it take about 25 minutes. I have tried to two types of media so far..maxell's and optodiscs and are both rated for 8x. Is there anything i can do to start burning faster?

    Thank You.

What matters is how your burner’s firmware reads the media to determine the speed to burn. Try a quality brand such as TY or Verbatim and see what happens. You should also see if there is a firmware update for your burner to help it view the media you have at their correct speed.
