Is it an ISO file? I did Butterfly Effect last night ... used Shrink and Decrypter. Also don't do the Director's cut, the Theatrical version is much better (IMO)

I did that movie last night too, using shrink and nero,no problem here. Why is everyone using decrypter and shrink?
Am I missing something here?I can understand using shrink to rip and decrypter to burn but,why use decrypter and then shrink?Unless shrink wont do the disc, I rarely use decrypter.

    jim_dandy,

perhaps they've just got alot of time on their hands :) I use decrypter to rip, in file mode, if I'm running it through DVD Rebuilder.

Hey flip, Hey jim, how ya'll doin? Are ya lookin' forward to the new and improved shrink next week? Last version ya know.

I also did Butterfly Effect ripping with decrypter, then re-authoring in Remake, then using Rebuider/CCE and finally nero express to burn. Very large files with the infinifilm feature.

sideturn, are you sure your files are 4.36 or less after leaving shrink?

Also, what mode are you ripping in decrypter with, file, ifo, iso? Decrypter uses iso only to burn.

I would take jim's advice, rip with shrink, re-author and/or compress in shrink(keep in mind any re-authoring loses your menu), and burn with nero(edit> preferences> fileI/O> check enable nero to burn)

flip, I liked the director's cut, how come you didn't?

    Didn't like the ending :)

This would explain the larger file ... what is it?

Throughout the movie windows pop up and when you hit enter it shows interviews and facts bout the scene, and deleted scenes with and without director's commentary. It effectively can make a 2 hr. movie into a 4 hour movie. It should be on your Copy also.

Ya know, I haven't watched the theatrical version yet, it's on the "flip" (ha ha) side. I knew there was an alternate ending, but I don't think it's the same( it's in the bonus features, I think). What was the diff?

I've got those sony dvd DL's coming this week and I thought I would try this movie(both sides) on them. Thought it would be a good tester.

Seems as tho more and more movies are using this infinifilm, I just got Rush Hour 2 with infinifilm on it too. It makes DVDRemake a whole lot tougher.

Well, you just ruined the director's cut for everyone. But I appreciate the fact you don't want to ruin the theatrical version for me. lol Guess I'll get up and go pop it in, and just go to the END. Pretty wild movie tho, huh?

maybe; do you have easy cd creator or Nero if not you need to get one of them. Try this

    1. open up dvd shrink
    2. put movie in dvd-rw drive
    3. click on open disk this will analysis the dvd takes anywhere from 1-min to 3min
    4. click re-author
    5. double click title-1 this is under the main movie title; in doing this you will only record the main movie no extras
    6. click backup; make sure you remember where your dvd file is being saved most likely C:\"name of movie"
    7. wait for movie to write to hard drive.

    8. when movie is done open up easy cd creator or nero
    9. put in blank dvd
10.clicK new project DVD and click DATA
11.find your movie that was written to your hard drive; should be c:\"name of movie" and click on it
    11. next you should see two files VIDEO_TS & AUDIO_TS
12.next double click on both these files and then click burn
    13. watch your movie

Can you give the same instuctions for a guy using decryptor and dvd2one? I've made quite few backups, but this one has me a little stumped. also, what are the two groups of large tracks on the director's cut? Which one do i want?

[bold]BQuicks,[/bold] here is a perfect guide for DVD2One and decrypter here in AD. Shows how to burn with Nero.

    http://www.afterdawn.com/guides/archive/dvd-9_to_dvd-r_with_dvd2one.cfm

Here are several guides using DVD2One in different methods, Main movie, join two discs, etc.

If you don't have Nero you can get a trial version here in AD also. You can use trial as long as you want, it must be reloaded every month.

The Butterfly Effect that I have is a flipper disc. The director's cut has the infinifilm feature and the theatrical version does not.

[bold]salvara[/bold], when using shrink you can enable it to burn with Nero and never have to open Nero. Click on edit > preferences > File I/O > check enable burn with Nero.

PS-for those that haven't tried the new shrink 3.2-you should. New quality options make for an excellent pic and now you can edit (like in Nero recode by substituting a still image for the disabled extra) without losing menu function.

Hehe, sorry for the vague question. I'm more than comfortable with the programs. I was just curious which set of files on the butterfly effect were what I wanted to rip in movie only mode.

Does the director's cut ONLY have the director's cut ending? The theatrical release is a totally different disc???
