So, now that I've researched what I'd like in a modded PS2, I've decided that I'd like to get one premodded. I've searched the forum as well as other sites, and many of the threads are a few years old and many of the sources sites are gone/not functional, etc. Can any one recommend a good source to order a preMod PS2? I'd like to get one with HD Connect, or at least ability to attach a hard drive and it sounds like DMS4 is the chip to go.
Good luck finding a place that sells them after the I.C.E. crackdowns earlier this month (or last month, whatever). It was hard enough finding a place that still sells modchips, I had to import from China and Canada. I bought a used PS2 from Gamestop, a used network adaptor, and a 320GB hard drive. I purchased HD Advance and just transfered my games via usb enclosure. Its a lot faster than using the PS2's DVD drive to read/write. LMK if you have any questions, and it should save you probably $100 (or more) for stuff that you don't use. The only thing you won't be able to do is use PS1 games this way (but that's what a PSP is for now...)
You can always go to the craiglsit in your area, see if anyone has one for sale, or put out a want to buy add, might get lucky. Also, the swap magic disks are another money saver that are easy to use as well, somehting you may want to look into.
The Craigslist idea is good as well, as long as you have a way of testing it before giving the other person money.
did you buy pre moded ps2? i also looking for the pre moede ps2. so i found 2sites. modchip.us and x-boxmodchip. x-boxmodchip.com is a little chipper than nodchip.us. i'm cosidering about which one is better choice. maybe they ship use ps2 or chage the rense to used. i'm confuse...
Heads up. Do not buy "premodded" console. Especially if it's not in your local area. If you do decide to buy one, ask the seller if the mod chip is a clone (fake chip) or authentic, and the garuntee/return/etc. policy. If the chip is a clone, it cannot be flashed. If you flash a clone chip, the chip will no longer work and so will your PS2. That's why it's good to know the difference; it can save you some money and a headache.
I used modchipman.com a very long time ago,but since the raids took place they don't offer installs anymore. They are very reliable though, but I'm sure there are reputable installers out there you just have to look hard enough.
