Hello. I'm new to all of this, and after reading through pages and pages of threads (both on here, and other forums), I'm a bit overloaded with information and I'm a bit confused about my options.
Basically, I was hoping someone could help clarify what I need to know before buying a box.

From what I've gathered so far, there are 2 options:

    1. Cable Receiver
Starview, Eurovox and Kryptview appear to be the main boxes to go for.
You replace the original receiver box with e.g. a Starview box, flash the box, and you're done - you can get all the channels for free if you want. Is this correct?

    2. Satellite Receiver
Dreambox seems to be the main/only option here.
You replace the Sly box with a Dreambox. At this point do you get to see all the channels? Do you need to do any flashing/uploading to the box? Do you need to sign up to some kind of cardsharing network? How much do these networks cost to join?

For either of these to work, do you need to be subscribing to a cable service (i.e. \/irgin), or a satellite service (i.e. Sly)?

I currently don't have cable, and I'm not sure this is possible where I live, so I'm personally looking at option 2. I have a satellite, and a wire coming from it, which I presume are from the previous occupants. If I plug this wire into a Dreambox, will it work? Or do I need to be subscribing to Sly?

I'm sure there's lots of other people in my position, so it'd be really helpful if someone does know the answers.

    Thanks for any help!

    David

There is NO HACK for SKY,

YES, you can use a DreamBox for sky, but only with an original card and appropriate CAM
