hi guys anyone recommend a good laptop to purchase, i am not big into gaming but i do tend to run alot of programs at once, stream alot and keep many internet tabs open at once, and like most fond of downloading, i was looking at something like the dell inspirion 15r n5010, but has anyone else any other recommendations that i should look into.?
Ok the first thing i would suggest is stay away from Dell u will have more problems than u want and 2 what is your budget for this new machine??
Really?? My nephew has been using dell for over year and half without problems, but are they common to be a pain in the ass?? i suppose in and around 800e is my price range, i also plan to get full extended warranty. What brand is recommended so??
If you plan to get extended warranty i am sure it will be ok. However i only say to be cautious cause for the past year the computers that i have had to fix have all been dell. The issue i find with Dell is although they are cheap the reason behind this is because the company builds their machine with cheap quality parts in them and this is in the long run they will breakdown and then whether or not you have warranty you will have to fork out for it. My advice for you would be to go for Acer, Toshiba. I have an HP and mine has problems with their battery pack. Search for a few that is within your range cause i am in Australia and then post them here and i can have a look at them and help you choose the best one for the value of your investment.
thanks man, funny you say acer i myself despise them- maybe it was just unfortunate but i came across 2 that were very poor..! seem to be hearing good things about toshiba. Im still wondering at what processor and ram to focus im thinking intel i5 and 4gb ram- but im wondering is it necessary if i dont do gaming, but as i said in first post- i tend to run alot of applications. this is what i was looking at-
Regardless of you not gaming much you still have to look at 4gigs and the i5 as your bench mark the way most applications run these days and let alone the Operating System Windows 7 although not like Vista in the resource hungry nature you still would be good to have an i5 or i7 and 4gigs to start off with. Why i reinforce the RAM matter is the fact that if you run a 32 bit operating system with 4gig ram the operating system will only see 3gigs. However if you run 64bit it will see all of the memory and plus when u need to upgrade your ram you will not have an issue. 32bit programs run on 64bit and most programs are starting to bring out 64bit version the only issue that may arise within 64bit versions is the driver issue if u ever need to look for new drivers. However if you use a Driver finding program you should not have a problem. Looked at your link its ok but i gather i am sure you can find something a tad more powerful for that amount your putting in. post another 2 alternatives and ill compare.
My main issue with this machine would be that for that price or just a tad more you should be able to get a bigger hard drive 640gigs at least.
