Hello, I am going to buy a new printer. I need a printer for making DVD inserts. Cans omebody suggest a printer that can print decent looking DVD covers, but is not too expensive? Also do you suggest I buy photo paper or print the covers on regular paper? It doesnt have to look identical to an original just as long as it looks nice.

try the epson r200/300 series as can print right onto the cd/dvd as can certain canon & hp printers. use regular paper as photographic paper is expensive

The epson r-200 is a very nice/quality printer. It does a superb job on my semi-gloss photo dvd covers.Around $80.It also does a fine job on my full hub printable media.

I get my 6 replacement ink cartridges at privateabacus24-7.com
$20 including s&h.Buy more sets and they are even cheaper.Very good quality ink and customer service is great.

I prefer a thinner 6.5 mil photo paper. It's hard to tell the difference between the original and my copy.

Edit: The dvd on top is my original.Bottom is my copy. The lighter disc covers don't turn out as good as the original, but still look very good.

Those look great. What do you use to get such straight cuts? One of those personal paper cutters?

I use a sharp pair of scerrated scissors.I'd like to get a machete type-table set- paper cutter. I buy the 8x11 inch semi gloss photo paper at staples in 100 packs.I also cut them up to get 3 4x6 inch pics out of each sheet.

My album covers and regular camera photos look great off that printer despite my soon to be ex-wife slamming it on the ground! It's got a broken eject tray, but ok other than that.
