Thanks for the tip I for one am sick of getting charged for converting my own money.

 

it's not a "tip," it's illegal. coinstar is a service you pay for. if you don't like it, take your change to your bank. they'll change it over for free.

 

This isn't something i'm promoting, i don't even use Coinstar and i just thought it would be a cool hack to post.

that's great and all, but this isn't exactly a how-to on how to defend yourself or hotwire a car or something that would be useful to survival in a poo-hits-the-fan situation...this is just like a whitecollar crime or something.

Indeed, both in the fact that albino92's "hack" is major illegal and that your bank will do it for free.

All you have to have is a bank account then you take them the change and they give you the cash. If you don't have the amount you said (say you miss counted $20 in change, its really $19) then they take whats you didn't give them, which in my example is $1, out of your bank account to make it all even.

Your bank won't even charge you a penny for this service as its exchanging dollar for dollar.
