whats up I got a question. I got a cable internet on my Pc, what is the best way to connect another two computers to it so that all 3 computers will have the internet.
Easy...you need to buy a router. Then you hook up all three to it. If the comps are far away from where your modem is, then they do have wireless routers. So all you would have to do is install a wireless card in the two that are not near the router and modem. A router would basically be able to split the internet signal to all. But it gets a little complicated sometimes to set it up...so make sure you read the directions very careful. Linkysys makes a decent product. And if there is trouble you can phone them for help. Someone else here may be able to clarify a little more, because I have cable internet. I dont have dsl and Im not sure if they make a router for dsl. Since you didnt specify what kind of internet you have. Plus routers are actually a lan setup...so you will need a lan card in the comps your not going to be running wirelessy. edit..oops I didnt sere the cable part. Yes you need a cable router. If you are interested in vonage where you pay 27.00 a month for a internet phone with unlimted long distance...then linkysys makes a router with vonage net phone built into it. It also has wireless capability. Its bout a 100 or so at circuit city. I absolutely love it. Free lg for 27 month and it works good. No probs. Might be a good idea for you...then you can elimate your home telephone and run everything through the net like I do.
your very welcome. Go to vonage.com and check it out. Its worth it if you make frequent long distance calls. Plus they give you call waiting...caller id....the whole shebang.
