calculation to figure out projected size of encoded video

    is there a calculation to figure out what the results will be of an encoded video for dvd. for example if i have a 400mb or 700mb videos what will the size outcome be for those videos after encoding, so i know if they will fit on a dvd disk. need to know the outcome size?

    The Size of the AVI file Has Absolutly no Effect on how big the DVD/Mpeg files will be..What Matters is the Length of the File and the Bitrate used to encode the file..You should get a Bitrate Calculator It will tell you what bitrate to use so for the Length of your Movie so that your Movie exactly(More or less) fits on a DVD-R..A good one is called "Power Bit" it is Freeware and you can find it if you do a Google search...Cheers
